Ive had two knee replacements done. Im 65. is it possible to have dental implants done after this surgery?
This is usually not a contraindication to having dental implants placed. I would certainly check with your MD who will most likely recommend prophylactic antibiotics before implant placement.
Something else to consider, make sure your oral gum health is in line and maintain this health. Gum disease causes systemic issues.
I currently have Lupus which is well managed by plaquinil with no steroid use, but with slightly elevated c reactive protein (inflammation).I need to get 2 front teeth replaced with implants due to severe cracks far down on the root. What questions should I ask to make sure I have a surgeon who truly understands my illness? What signs should I look for to make sure things are progessing the way they should healing wise, as I take longer to heal than most patients? Any help is appreciated!
By all means use an Oral Surgeon in conjunction with your dentist. I would also suggest to discuss flapless surgery and implant placement. Hopefully you can do a one stage surgery to remove the teeth and place the implants at the same time. Also consider asking if they can leave the healing caps on so the tissue architecture can be preserved and no sutures will be needed.
If necessary sometimes topical steroid trays can be used to help facilitate faster healing.
For about 3yrs, is it still possible for me to replace them with dental implants and it still look natural and also could bone loss be a problem. I am 34yrs old. Thank you
Most denture patients love getting dental implants as they truly can anchor and secure dentures in place. There are treatment options from placing several implants to replacing the entire denture with a fixed dental implant bridge. As Dr. Timmerman mentioned, it is a choice that you have and how much you want to spend. I will add that I have never had a denture implant patient who did not love having the implants to hold the denture in place.
