Hi Doctors, I am 28 years old. I have one missing molar on my lower jaw for 8 years. The teeth have shifted and I appear as angle. One dentist told me I still can get a mini implant, but one of teeth maybe cut off in order to make the space bigger. I would like to know what is better option for me. Implant or braces? Thank you for your time.
The adjacent teeth should be uprighted so your bite and alignments are ideal. If the teeth are not correctly aligned there will always be a food trap which can lead to bone loss around the implant and decay at the gum line of the adjacent angled teeth.
I'm thinking about getting dental implants to replace two missing teeth. I'm looking at various doctor's before and after photos, but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Should there be pictures at multiple stages of the procedure? Pictures that include the gum line? Thanks for any expert tips.
I take close up pictures of implants in all situations. The emergence profile or contour of the gum around an implant is as important as the fit of the implant crown on the implant.
Most of the custom abutments that I place (part which attaches to the implant) are computer generated to create an ideal tissue contour and use either gold or zirconium.
I'm considering getting dental implants, but I wanted to know what the typical recovery time was? What kind of downtime can I expect -- how long will I need to take off work and will there be a lot of pain? And how long before I can eat normally?
A single implant usually has little discomfort, often times people go back to work the same day or next morning. Multiple implants may need a weekend to recover from. Pain levels are similar – more surgical sites will produce greater soreness needing more time to heal.
