"These are all natural parts of the aging process. What we can do is try preventative treatments or get a neck lift / face lift earlier in the aging process. There are numerous non-surgical options available, and some can be used in combination to get best outcomes, but you would need a consultation with an expert. Some options for skin tightening include:- Thermage radiofrequency to heat the skin, tighten it over time, and prevent the aging process- Ultherapy high-intensity ultrasound to contract the muscle, tighten the face and neck, and prevent the aging process- PDO NovaThreads or InstaLift threads for immediate lifting without surgery and long-term collagen production- Sculptra injections for collagen production to areas of the face and neck with crepey skin or early sagging- BTL Exilis Ultra, Venus Legacy, and Thermi250 for monthly collagen stimulation with facials- ThermiRF, Renuvion (J Plasma), or Inmode BodyTite for internal heating and tightening with or without surgery- Fillers (or facial implants) to contour the jawline and chin to improve the appearance of the neck- Face lift / neck lift with fat grafting and fillers if you need a significant improvementI would suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer"
The critical question in considering appropriateness for aneck lift is the patient's overall health and not age. I have done many face orneck lifts for patients in their 80s and one for a patient older than 90. Althoughthe operation requires skill and experience and takes 2 or more hours toperform, there is minimal blood loss, and the damage to your overall body issmall. Therefore, in patients in good general health, the operation can beperformed safely almost regardless of age. It is important to discuss yoursituation with your surgeon during consultation. Best wishes.
An exam would be necessary to determine this. In general, a lower face and neck lift is better to improve patients with more skin laxity and jowling.Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of facelifts, necklifts facelift revisions, and facial procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
Age is not as big a problem as health issues. A healthy 68 y/o female can do great with a lower face/neck lift and especially if it is done under local anesthesia. It is safer and has less complications by far than gen. anesthesia. sincerely,David Hansen,MD
There are plenty of 68 year old people who successfully undergo necklift and facelift procedures. Since this is an elective procedure the key is to ensure that you don't have any underlying medical issues that would make proceeding unwise. Your primary care doctor should be able to perform that workup and it is very important that testing is performed before surgery. Stephen Weber MD, FACS
It all depends on your medical history. If you are healthy with no significant medical conditions it is certainly reasonable.
At 68 years of age a neck lift alone will not address the excess skin in the neck. A full face neck lift would be required to tighten the jowls, remove fatty deposits in the neck, tighten the neck muscles and tighten the facial SMAS. For many examples, please see our facelift photo Gallery link below
Usually a patient in her 50's or 60's is really a candidate for a full facelift. Jowls are usually noticeable and this is not part of a neck lift.
Thank you for your question. You are a candidate for facial rejuvenation surgery if you are healthy and providing your primary care physician agrees (safety is very important). If you have significant skin laxity in the neck you would likely benefit from surgery. There is a huge semantic issue around the terms facelift and neck lift. For all intents and purposes these procedures are always done to some degree in tandem. The vector of pull is along the jawline and the neck cannot be corrected without the lower face and vice-verse. Facial rejuvenation surgery is all about providing the patient with a harmonious and natural result. Seek consultation from an experienced board certified plastic surgeon (or two) and learn about your options. Best wishes.
Thank you for your question. Your age is no limit on your ability to have a neck lift. However you must be in good health, not a smoker, and have no medical condition that interferes with good blood supply.
