Hi, I've had these prominent neck folds since I was a child, (age 20 now) and they don't show any sign of going away with age. I've tried working out, but still nothing. What are the options for me to reduce the appearance of the folds, or completely get rid of them. This is having a huge affect on my social life. Any advice is appreciated.

Answer: Treating Neck Folds in Young Adult Although I would need to examine you in person to be more specific for your condition, your photo seems to show horizontal neck creases with some convex contour (fullness) between these creases. This is not a typical aging change, as you are very young and aging of neck tissue usually results in vertical folds and creases. Rather I think these creases may represent lines where the deep surface of the skin is held more tightly to the underlying muscle by fibrous bands, with the normal fat between these creases able to bulge outward slightly as it is not held inward as firmly. If so, this may be similar to the description of "cellulite", in which the dimples are thought to be due to skin and fat stuck closer to the muscle by fibrous bands. Therefore, liposuction might be helpful to remove any areas of fullness between the creases and also to disrupt the creases. Some of your own fat could possibly be transferred into the actual creases after disrupting them, to soften their appearance. Your condition is somewhat unusual and will require an individualized approach following a detailed examination and discussion.

Answer: Deep neck folds Hi there,If you're 20, and of normal weight, then you have inherited them They are due to the way your neck skin attaches to the deeper muscle layers of your neck.If you felt able to post a picture it would be very helpful, and it's not possible to give you really good advice until we can see how deep the folds are. There might be some options (depending on how they look), including surgery to release the deep attachments of the folds, or even more simple measures such as botox. All the best.
