My skin is still puckered at both temples following a necklift 11 months ago. How can I rectify this?

It's now 11 months since I have had a neck lift, and both my temples (just above the ears) are puckered - where my PS sutured the skin. I'm wondering if anything can be done to remedy this situation so that it can even out flat. Currently, I have been letting my hair covered my ears, but I'd prefer to style my hair up as it give me a better profile. Please, could you let me know if these puckered skin could be rectified? Thank you!

HelloJudging from your description it seems like you have undergone a face and Necklift and not just a Necklift  since  the incision is extending in front of the ear all the way up to the temple region.It sounds that you have some residual skin pleating in the temple region which can be treated by re opening the incisions and properly re draping the skin.You should reconsult your primary plastic surgeon.Best wishes

It would help if you posted a picture of the puckering.  That being said, puckering in the temple region can be due to bunching of skin the area from the lift.  Most times, this puckering will smoothen out over 1 year after the surgery.  If is does not, you would need a small office procedure to remove the excess skin.

It sounds like you had a face and neck lift not just a neck lift if the incision went up to the temple area.  It would have been helpful to see some photos to identify what exactly is the issue.  It could be skin pleating related to the skin re-draping at the original procedure,  skin wrinkles, or a thickened scar.  It's hard to know based upon your description alone. The treatment will be based upon the exact issue at hand. Unfortunately, at 11 months after surgery, to remedy this situation if it is actual skin pleating,  you will likely need to undergo a revision procedure to correct this.  I would discuss this with the original surgeon so an appropriate treatment plan can be formulated.  Best of luck.

Puckered skin at both temples following a neck lift, treatment. This can be done two ways. 1.  a wedge of skin can be removed along the temple hairline to remove the excess skin. 2. a small  lift can be done to raise the excess skin in the scalp.

Thank you for your question.  Be sure to contact discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.  Generally speaking puckering or small folds of skin around the ear following a face and neck lift can be easily revised.  However waiting 6-8 weeks after surgery to see if face simply will resolve is important.
