Thankyou very much for your question, as it is quite an important one. It takes 12 months for a scar to fully matureand to fade to a color which is close to that of your natural skin. Sun exposure during this time will increasethe production of dark pigment (melanin), which therefore makes the scar turndark. Unfortunately, this can be a permanentchange. It is best to avoid sun exposureand tanning beds for a full 12 months after the scar occurs.
Hi there,Scarring and healing takes 12 to 18 months to fully mature in general after any surgery. However, it can fluctuate in a variety of subject and objective ways, especially in the 1st 6 to 9 month post op period.Likewise the colour of the scar will fluctuate in a similar manner. It usually will fluctuate between pink to pale or even red in the first 6 months post op depending on the intrinsic scaring propensity based on your ethnic and/or genetic predisposition, your surgical recovery process (whether it was complicated by wound infection etc), and the level of post op scar management that your surgeon has advised you. Hope this helps you appreciate better the variety of factors involved in the scarring process and how it would impact on how your scars mature in time ahead.Best wishesEllis Choy
The healing and fading of scars can vary widely depending on individual factors such as skin type, age, and the body's healing response. Generally, scars from surgeries like a transaxillary breast augmentation may begin to fade and mature within a year but can continue to improve for up to two years or more. At six months, it's not uncommon for scars to still appear dark. They typically fade to become lighter or closer to your natural skin tone over time. Using silicone gel or sheets, keeping the scar protected from the sun, and following your surgeon's care instructions can help optimize the healing process. If you're concerned about the appearance of your scars, it's a good idea to discuss this with your plastic surgeon for specific advice and possible treatments to enhance the appearance of the scars.
Hi there and thank you for your question. For scarring, typically cars begin to fade several months after surgery, full scar maturation takes about one year. Best of luck to you!
Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and PIH with discoloration can resolve over time. Our office treats these hyperpigmentation issues conservatively with topical cream depigmentation protocols. In addition, light chemical peels and fractional ablation can help expedite the process. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Your scars should have faded to a large degree but 6 months. Sometimes, scars can become hyperpigmented and bleaching cream can be helpful in lightening this. Return to your surgeon so that they may evaluate your scars and help get them to fade as quickly as possible.
Typically it takes a scar a full year to mature, at which time the color of the scar has faded. Everyone heals differently and people with darker skin can have darker scars. If at 6 months your scar is still quite dark, you may want to consult with your surgeon to see if you would be a good candidate for a scar revision. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. Typically scars take 1-1.5 years to mature. You can help speed it along with using scar creams, lasers and if needed kenalog injections. I would recommend you follow up with your surgeon and see what they recommend to help it heal better and faster. Best of luck to you.
Very good question. And a very common question. And the answer is that it depends. How is that for not answering a question?! Some people's scars fade by 6 months post op and others are still red at a year and a half. That being said, I generally use the one year mark as a good time expectation. At that point, if a scar is still red, I will laser it then (at no charge) to speed up the process. Best of luck!
Hello, thank you for your questio. After a surgery, of any kind, when it hits the skin and opens, the result of the closure of the skin leads to the appearance of scarring, there are always scars, depending on the type of scarring of the patient, the anatomical area, if there has been tension in the scar ... etc can make the scar more or less disguised or hypertrophic, keloid, dehiscence, hyperpigmented, hypopigmented etc. We can say that there are ways to help a patient so that their scarring is the most unnoticed and that the scars evolve up to 12 months when it is stabilized and does not suffer more changes
When it comes to scarring after a breast augmentation, every patient is different since everyone’s skin is different. 90% of our healing/ scarring is built into our genetics, so there is not a lot that we can change to help the scars along. There are so many different scar products out there, but in reality no one really knows if they work or not. I usually recommend intensive massage to the scars and silicone based products. It usually takes at least a year for the scars to fade, so try and be patient. I hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. It is very difficult to accurately discuss implant volume without an exam and detailed measurements. In order to make an accurate size recommendation, I would need to assess your chest wall and breast mound measurements and characteristics. I use these measurements to...
Nipple position is a function of the width of the implant and its placement on the chest wall. Narrower implants placed medially may result a more laterally appearing nipple. Overall your implant size and placement looks fine and you need to give your results more time for swelling...
It sounds like you are describing ptosis (sagging of the breasts). Without photos it is impossible to give you an opinion. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. Best of luck.
