Will my puckered scars flatten??? (photos)

Question

I'm 1 week post op BA and at my post op yesterday my surgeon mentioned there was some puckering. I didn't look at the time but now I have I'm worried about the scars and how they will look once fully healed. Will the puckering flatten or will I likely have to have scar revision? How soon should I start using scar sheets? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You are very early in the recovery process. Your scars will conitnue to smooth out and fade with time. Follow up with your surgeon as directed. Regards,

Hello,Thank you for the question and photos. your scars appear typical at this point post op. You can expect them to flatten and smooth out as inflammation goes down. Typically I recommend that my patients begin applying scar gel roughly 3 weeks post op, when incisions are totally closed. Ask your Plastic Surgeon what they recommend for you.All the best

It's very normal for the scars to initially be raised and puckered and red. They will flatten and mature with time.

Your scars look very normal for this time post op.  All should heal just fine, without needing any scar revisions.

Thank you for your questions.  Your "puckering"  is most likely from the sutures below the incisions and will continue to improve.  They should flatten with time.  I don't want to tell you that you will not require a scar revision, but it is unlikely and they should continue to improve.  Silicone gel sheets and scar massage will help your incisions to heal as best as they can.  Best of Luck!
