I know the post surgery bra is not supposto have underwire and it should zip in the front. What about for a bathing suit? I was told to get an underwire bathing suit if i were to use one during the first few months post surgery and then after depends on my preference. Is that true because it is contradicting.

Answer: Bikini of Course! You didn't mention how long after your surgery. Personally when I do a breast reduction, I use a regular bra without underwire that can fasten in the back. Don't know why people ask to have the bra fasten in the front - personally I see that this type of bra might, because of the clasp put additional pressure between the breasts where you want to have cleavage. If a woman can't fasten their bra in the back, you can always fasten it in the front and spin it around! If you are less than 6 weeks post-op, make sure you get a bathing suit with a built in bra that has support. After 6 weeks, in my practice, you're free to wear whatever you want. Best to ask your plastic surgeon to get his/her blessings!Good luck and I'm sure you're going to look great in the summer.
