Hi there, I’m a mother of two in more than perfect health conditions and on my ideal weight - looking to cut out the extra skin. However, I do have a problem. On my second labour I ended up with pelvic organ prolapse and disfunctional pelvic floor. It’s not extremely severe but it’s a mild prolapse I have. I don’t know how much this could be impacted by a tummy tuck. Did anyone ever assessed something like that? If you did, please share your comments. Thanks!

Answer: Tummy tuck Dear rettedgui, tummy tuck will remove loose skin and tighten muscles but it will not affect your pelvic floor and organ prolapse. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Will a tummy tuck impact pelvic floor and organ prolapse? A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening the abdominal muscles. This procedure is commonly done to achieve a more toned and aesthetically pleasing abdominal appearance. While a tummy tuck primarily focuses on the abdominal area, it can have an impact on the surrounding structures, including the pelvic floor and the potential for organ prolapse.Pelvic floor muscles provide support to the organs in the pelvis, such as the bladder, uterus, and rectum. Weakness in the pelvic floor muscles can lead to conditions like pelvic organ prolapse, where these organs can shift out of their normal positions.During a tummy tuck, the abdominal muscles are often tightened, and this could indirectly affect the pelvic floor muscles to some extent. However, the impact on the pelvic floor is generally not a primary concern with a standard tummy tuck procedure. The effects on the pelvic floor are more likely to be noticed if extensive surgical procedures are performed in the pelvic region simultaneously, such as during certain forms of pelvic reconstructive surgery or combined procedures. If you have concerns about pelvic floor health or organ prolapse, it's important to discuss these concerns with your surgeon before undergoing a tummy tuck or any other surgical procedure. They can provide you with personalized advice based on your medical history and individual circumstances. If you're specifically worried about pelvic floor issues, it might be a good idea to consult a urogynecologist, a specialist who deals with pelvic floor disorders, to get a more comprehensive assessment and guidance.
