Is Juvederm Voluma Safe? Should anyone with rosacea worry about adverse reaction?

I am planning to get Voluma fillers to address slight facial volume loss but I also suffered from a rosacea flareup which has been fortunately under control and still is. Are there any side effects to Voluma, and should anyone with my skin condition worry about adverse reaction?

Juvederm Voluma is safe to use in patients with Rosacea and we have used it plenty of times with great success. It will also not trigger any issues with Rosacea if you have it under control. With any injection procedure there is a risk of swelling and bruising, but when done in skillful hands this risk is minimal with Voluma. Good luck to you!

Juvedern Voluma is safe in patients with rosacea.  It should not have any adverse effects on your rosacea.  While dermal fillers such as Juvederm Voluma are exceeding safe when injected by properly trained physicians, there are always possible side effects.  Some possible side effects of Juvederm Voluma are:1)  Bruise2)  Lump or bump3)  Over filling4)  Injury to surrounding facial structures (eye is injecting near it)5)  Asymmetries 6)  Vascular compromise7)  Infection8)  Inflammatory reactionI hope this helps.

Patients with Rosacea can safely have voluma. It is a different technique than other dermal fillers so you should ensure that you a master physician injector is performing the treatment. As with other fillers, the most common side effects are bruising, swelling and lumpiness. However, some other side effects are injury to the surrounding facial structure, asymmetry, vascular injury, and infection. These side effects will be minimized with an experienced physician injector.

Voluma is usually injected very deep to periosteum in the cheeks for a nice lift.  Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disorder occurring in the skin well above where Voluma sits.  Since the needle is passed multiple times through the cheek skin during treatment there is a risk of temporary bruising and swelling.  Since Voluma is comprised of hyaluronic acid a natural substance that is in our healthy skin anyway, it should not have an impact on rosacea.

Juvederm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler and these fillers are safe to use in the patient with Rosacea. The side effects of HA fillers are rare and can include bruising, swelling, lumpiness and tissue injury during injection. The wide safety margin of HA fillers is increased due to the fact that the product can be "erased" with the injection of an enzyme. Cheek volumization is a very technical procedure and to increase safety I like to use microcannulas for injection. Please make sure that you see a board certified plastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist for your procedure. The choice of injector is probably more important than the choice of filler. Best wishes.
