I am post op 7 months for a full tummy tuck and breast lift. I just found out today that I am 6 weeks pregnant with twins. I am TERRIFIED!!! I just need to know what to expect? I have seen a few people say they got pregnant with twins after a TT. But it was like 2 years & further post op. Has anyone had a case like this a please tell me what to expect. Is there a chance of my belly splitting??? I'm perfectly ok if my belly looks like crap after I'm just scared my life and my unborn babies.
Answer: Pregnancy After Tummy Tuck Seven months is a long time after tummy tuck. Full scar maturation and wound healing occurs at about a year. By the time you will be showing with your pregnancy (and beginning to stress the abdominal wall) would most likely be during the second trimester. If your rectus muscles are plicated with sutures, they most likely are healed at this point and relatively solid. During pregnancy, your uterus growth will most likely be stronger than the resistance of your abdominal muscles (like in any pregnancy). It is impossible to predict what will happen but most likely your muscles will stretch and accommodate your pregnancy. There are two important concepts here: 1) Very close follow-up with your high-risk obstetrician (a doctor who specializes in complicated pregnancies...often recommended for twin pregnancies anyway) and 2) Close follow-up with your plastic surgeon at regular intervals during your pregnancy to assess for any damage to your abdominal wall. Best wishes to you for a healthy and happy pregnancy. enjoy those little ones when they get here!

Answer: 7 months post op of Tummy Tuck and I'm 6 weeks pregnant with twins. You will not have any health problems either for you or your fetus from pregnancy after a tummy tuck so don't worry from that perspective. Obviously, you may need a revision after you deliver to look good again. Enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible, but don't worry another day about the tummy tuck causing a problem for you or your children.

Answer: 7 months post op of Tummy Tuck and I'm 6 weeks pregnant with twins. Has anyone had a case like this? What to expect? Congrats! In 29 years of performing tummy tucks I've had a few patients get pregnant subsequent to their TT. I only had one twin pregnancy. I went back 1.5 years later and re-did her TT. You should have no physical impediments to a great prgenancy has a result of the TT. Good luck

Answer: Pregnancy after tummy tuck? Thank you for your post. You certainly can have a baby after tummy tuck. In a tummy tuck, we are putting your body back together similiar to what you were like before you were pregnant. Your muscle tension, your skin and your fat contours are adjusted. Once you are fully healed from your surgery, your body is just as able to accept a pregnancy as it was before your first pregnancy. However, if your belly area stretched after your first pregnancy, then you are likely to stretch again after your next pregnancy. Most surgeons recommend to have a tummy tuck after you are finished having childern, however, in certain instances, such as starting to date again, or just not being happy with your post pregnancy body, then it makes sense to go ahead and have a tummy tuck. Just realize that you may need a revision later on.Best Wishes,Pablo Prichard, MD

Answer: Pregnancy after an abdominoplasty There is ample evidence that you will have a successful pregnancy following your abdominoplasty. It is likely that there will be some change in your abdominal appearance after the pregnancy. You would need to be evaluated after the pregnancy to determine if a revision is needed and the extent of the repair.
