I had Juvederm Voluma injected in vertical lines above lip. Very small and conservative amount (Photo)

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph and I am sorry to hear of your lip bump. I would first verify with your injector that Voluma was used instead of the thinner fillers with similar names - Vollure and Volbella.  These are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers better suited to filling in vertical lip lines as demonstrated in your picture as Voluma is far too thick to do so.  I would advocate dissolving the product currently placed into your lip and then redoing treatment with a more appropriate filler.  Hope this helps.

Voluma is a filler product which tends to stay put.  It is meant for deep tissues to lift and provide support.  If placed in superficial areas, the product is likely to cause a lump or nodule.  Unfortunately, this is not likely to go away on its own and will need to be treated with hyaluronidase to dissolve it.   The hyaluronidase can work within a few hours to dissolve the lump.  Best of luck.

I completely concur with my colleagues above, Juvederm Voluma would not be my dermal filler of choice for use in the perioral area and above the lip. It is normally used to volumise the face rather than fill fine lines. Thinner fillers are more commonly used in these areas as they dont distort the upper lip. I would advise returning to your treating practitioner with consideration of hyalasing the filler to remove it.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photograph.  Sorry to hear about your experience.  I do not recommend Voluma for the treatment of vertical lip lines because the product is too thick for superficial injection.  Volbella would be a good choice for the treatment of vertical lip lines.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow normal postprocedure swelling to fully resolve and to see your final result.  If you continue to have concerns, please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best course of action.  Any unwanted filler can be easily removed with Vitrase.  Hope this helps and best wishes! 

Vertical lines above lips are very difficult to fill with a filler; it requires finesse and excellent skills. Voluma is not indicated for lines above lips simply because it is a thick product. Juvederm, Belotero or any other filler indicated for fine lines should be used.

Unfortunately Voluma is not a good filler for lips so I think you will have to have this dissolved.  The good news is the lumps will completely resolve.  I recommend Restylane Silk or Vobella for lip lines as they are designed specifically for this area. Voluma is best for filling and projecting the cheeks. I hope this helps and best of luck.

Voluma has large molucule and also absorb more water. As result would cause  bump. either needs to be dissolved or spread it thinner.
