Can a Platysmaplasty be performed alone? If so, any NY/NJ/CT doctors that perform this treatment?

The short answer is yes, a platysmaplasty can be performed by itself, the disadvantage is that if you have heavy jowling, then you will have a line of demarcation under your jawline and some residual sagging skin, that you may not be happy with afterwards. This can be explained further on the consultation. If you are wiling to put up with that, then you can have just the corset platysmaplasty. 

It is possible to just tighten the muscle under the chin to improve the profile. The big question is how loose the skin is - if it's too loose, then it has to be lifted to give a nice result. A good exam by a facial plastic specialist should be able to answer that question for you.

Yes, a platysmaplasty with some chin lipo chin be performed without incisions around the ears.  However it is reserved from early aging usually in your 30's/  Without a photo it can not be stated that you are a candidate. Best to be examined in person. Talk to several board certified surgeons experienced in neck and face lifting.

Hi, thank you for your question. Yes! For the right patient, an isolated neck lift is definitely an option. The face and neck often age in different ways and at different rates, and should be evaluated and treated accordingly. 

It is impossible to say whether a full neck lift or combination of face and neck lift is better treatment without in person evaluation. It will depend of how much skin (if any) needs to be removed together  with platysma tightening anterior and possibly posterior. In most patients dominant deformity is neck while facial laxity is less visible.However, it is frequently necessary to address lower face (jawline, buccal area, jowls) in order to improve balance with reconstructed neck. There is no difference in recovery time between neck lift and face/neck lift in most patients requiring extensive neck lift. Scars (providing that patient needs skin excision after neck lift) are almost the same. Anesthesia (usually twilight) is the same and duration of surgery is 1.5 h longer. Do not be afraid to do face/neck lift if recommended by most plastic surgeons you consulted. Good luck.

Platysmaplasty or repair can be done alone if the skin laxity is not excessive. This can be determined during an in person examination. I do all my facial procedure with under local anesthesia and I have to say that a platysma repair with adequate skin redistribution is 75% of a facelift.

I have performed numerous corsetplasties for many difficult neck wattle patients. I prefer a neck lift from the lateral aspect to get best lift of the neck. A corsetplasty coupled with some time of lateral or superior lift maybe your best bet. Natural looking rejuvenation is the key to long lasting result. Video imaging may help. The answer is yes, but it’s in so few cases that I would call it a special case. Corsette technique is the best, but even some doctors do that better than other with different nuances. But most platysmaplasties need a lift as well.

Hello and thank you for your question. An isolated necklift with platysmaplasty can be performed in the right patient.  The decision to perform this will depend on the amount of skin laxity of your neck and lower face.  Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Yes, in theory this is possible, with incision under the chin only, but potentially it can create distortion on the jawline and the lateral neck if the skin is not lifted at the same time.  FOr some patients, it might work.  You'd need to be examined in person to tell for sure.  We are close to your home in Staten Island and would be happy to consult with you about the possibilities.
