Cardio is always a good option, particularly if you can tolerate the strenuous exercise. Speak to your surgeon about whether your incisions have healed before exercising. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon for surgeons to vary slightly when it comes to their post operative instructions and care. Here at Stillwater Plastic Surgery we ask our patients to return to exercise slowly and gradually. I strongly suggest following your surgeons recommendations and discussing these questions with he/she for optimal results. All the best.
Most patients are able to resume light cardio activities within twoweeks of liposuction, tummy tucks and BBLs. As you’re at the one month mark, you should be able to engage in more vigorous cardio activity, and should beable to ease back into your regular routine by six weeks after surgery. Followyour surgeon’s guidelines, as only he or she knows the specifics of yourprocedure and is in the best position to advise you. Also, listen to your body, and avoid any activities that cause discomfort or pain.
Thank you for the question. I typically will allow my patients to begin walking, not power walking, the day after surgery. By 3 weeks the patients are allowed to increase their level of activity to power walking or light jog, but no lifting of weight or abdominal exercises. I release patients to full, unrestricted activity at 8 to 12 weeks post op. Having said that, each surgeon has their own style in the post operative management of the patient. I would therefore recommend you discuss this with your surgeon. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
It is commendable that you wish to return to exercise as soon as possible after surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to determining the return to specific activities after the specific procedures performed. He/she will know exactly how you are progressing and whether or not you have experienced any complications. Remember, that he/she is ultimately responsible for your care. Having said that, I ask my tummy tuck patients to start walking ASAP after surgery but refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent complications and ensure proper healing. It may be 4-6 months before you reach your full energy and strength levels. Best to “go slow” and listen to your body as you gradually increase your activity level. Best wishes.
There is always the possibility that a hernia has developed around your belly button. Speak to a qualified surgeon about your options for treatment. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
At 17 days following a tummy tuck and just 3 days post drain removal, you may have some retained fluid and/or air under your abdominoplasty flap. The fluid/air may slosh or pop until it has fully resorbed. This may take a few weeks. Let your surgeon know about your situation...
Thank you for the question. You do not have to remove the braces prior to your tummy tuck. They should not interfere with your operation. Best wishes.
