Other parts of my tummy is now getting back to shape, but remains a small portion around my belly button that hurts and is like a hard lump between the scar and the belly button

Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear about your painful belly button area.  It is hard to say what could be taking place without a photograph as pain could be the result of a small fluid collection, thickened or maturing scar, swelling, or a suture related issue.  See your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. They will best be able to provide you with the cause of your pain.  Best wishes!

Thank you for your question. It is not possible to answer your question without at least the aid of pictures and how long ago your surgery was completed, to help in the formulation of a response. Having said that, during the initial phase after surgery, within the first three months, there is a period of inflammation and scarring that must occur in order for you to heal. It is during this time that you will appear swollen, lumpy/bumpy and firm. Over ensuing months these processes will subside and the inflammatory process gives way to scar softening and remodeling. It is during this time that you will start to see your results appear. I tell my patients that they will not see their final results for at least 6 months.I would recommend to follow up with your plastic surgeon as they are in the best position to evaluate and treat you in the post operative period. This will allow you and your surgeon the chance to further discuss your concerns and help allay any anxieties you may be experiencing.I hope this helps. Best wishes
