I have broken my nose 3x. This has left me with a significant bump on the bridge of my nose. It has also made my nose almost longer? My nose is also very bulbous. I was wondering if rhinoplasty can fix the extent of my bulbousity and the significant bump. I was also wondering if a rhinoplasty can shorten my nose.
Answer: Fixing a bulbous tip and dorsal hump with Rhinoplasty! Sorry to hear about your broken noses. If these are due to sports injuries, you may want to wait to rhinoplasty after your sports days are over with. And, YES, rhinoplasty can fix dorsal hump, bulbous tip and can correct a long nose by shortening it.

Answer: Bulbous nose The nose tip appears bulbous and also wide because of wide nostrils. The nose looks good on profile except for a small hump that can make it look longer. A conservative removal of the dorsal hump, alarplasty and tip plasty will improve the appearance of the nose. Regards Dr. J

Answer: Rhinoplasty for a less distracting nasal appearance. Based on your photos, you appear to have relatively thin nasal skin, with a c-shaped appearance of your nose, with a wide tip and flaring nostrils. This is associated with a slightly long nasal appearance and a small dorsal hump on profile. Rhinoplasty surgery may be considered for achieving a narrower and straighter nasal appearance on front view, with a slight tip lift, nasal shortening, and hump removal, to achieve a less distracting and more feminine nasal profile appearance. Please consider meeting with several reputable rhinoplasty specialists who offer computer Imaging so you can understand what to expect after rhinoplasty surgery. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. Maneuvers for your surgery would include dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, nasal tip deprojection, tip elevation, among other maneuvers. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: My nose is bulbus with a significant bump on the bridge Trauma to the nose can cause a variety of issues such as a crooked nose, and a dorsal hump from the repetitive trauma. A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump, narrowing the bridge line, and reducing the bulbous nasal tip with all the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. No external incisions are required, and no painful packing is required either. The side profile photograph demonstrates a recessive chin, so give some consideration to placement of a small chin implant, to augment your chin forward for better facial balance and proportions. It's difficult to decrease the overall projection of the nose and maintain balance. Digital computer imaging of both your nose and your chin would be helpful to understand with either one or both procedures can accomplish upon your facial features. Rhinoplasty for the traumatic nose is a very difficult endeavor, and one of the most difficult procedures to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so choose your rhinoplasty specialist wisely based on extensive experience producing natural results.
