I had my last rhinoplasty 9 months ago, which was my fourth surgery. I originally had a straight nose and wanted to achieve a Barbie nose upturned, with an elegant arch. The pictures taken on the operating table looked perfect and exactly what I wanted. However, over time, my nose started to look worse swollen, crooked, and even more problematic than before the surgery. Two days ago, I had a consultation with my surgeon. He told me that my body couldnt handle the new shape and formed scar tissue. Because of this, he said Id need another surgery to remove the scar tissue and make the nose even more upturned so that it would resemble a Barbie nose once healed. To me, this explanation doesnt make much sense. I dont understand why my skin hasnt settled. I cant even feel any bone the structure feels very small and seems to mold back to the desired shape when I massage it. Will this eventually heal on its own, or do I truly need yet another surgery to achieve the Barbie nose I want?
Hi there, I had a closed rhinoplasty in 2010 for what I felt was a large nose. While initially happy, over time, my septum began to appear crooked. Im not sure if this wasnt corrected and appeared worse because my nose was slimmer, or if it somehow healed badly. I had a revision rhinoplasty performed in 2018 by a different surgeon who specials in revisions. This time I had an open surgery with more septal work. Unfortunately, the surgeon took more off my tip and i was left with a lot of swelling from removing prior scar tissue, so my nose now appears BIGGER then prior to my first rhinoplasty. I returned a few times and was told there is nothing I can do. The swelling becomes worse at times even years later, so I assume a lot of it is fluid? The surgeon said there is nothing I can do. Is it worth it to get a second opinion? Maybe kenalog injections? Or am I out of luck? My nose has always been my biggest source of low self esteem, so having it look worse has been tough.
I had my first rhinoplasty in spring of 2014. Was told my blood was very watery at the time and I bled a lot. Resulting in a lot of scar tissue and poor breathing. When I was woken up I moved very fast and bled from this nostril. During packing removal I believe a stitch ripped. A cotton ball was placed and it seems my skin healed around it A year later spring of 2015 I had a revision to help with the breathing and fix the nostril. The nostril seems untouched. The breathing improved as I used to whistle a lot. I still feel my breathing is not what it used to be. My main concern is the nostril & hanging columella (?) I believe thats what its called Within the last 3 years I had hydrocortisone injected into the tip the the nostril to help with the scarring but it did not help I guess since its been so long. My primary concern is evening out my nostril and bringing up that columella. If the tip and nostrils can be defined would be great but I had thick skin and am ok with the way the rest of my nose.
My nose was broken in March 2024. The break caused an open roof deformity and was described to me as a crush injury. I had a rhinoplasty in May 2024. My surgeons told me they would do osteotomies to fix the open roof deformity, would do rasping to fix the bony open roof on the bridge of my nose, and a cartilage graft to rebuild my bridge. I'm a year post-op and I'm unhappy with the results. Based on my surgery notes, the surgeons only did the graft. I think I can see the open roof deformity under the graft. Also, I I think I can see the graft move whenever I wash my face, take off makeup, or rub my nose. I also think the depression in my bridge is coming back or was never fixed (now that the swelling has gone down I can see the divot). I rarely ever touch my nose because I'm so scared the graft will move or be reabsorbed. My nose is still numb and I still have a dull pain from the break and surgery. At every post-op appointment I've told my surgeons I'm not happy with the results, something feels off, and I'm not sure it's healing well. They always reassure me it's fine and seem to suggest my expectations were too high. I'm scared to get anesthesia again and have a revision. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done.
Hi l had open rhinoplasty 14 months ago and am very unhappy with nostril asymmetry. My nose looks uneven and seems bigger than before. I have thick skin and hoped it was just swelling but its over a year now and not improving.
I had a second revision rhinoplasty 7 months ago to correct graft work from a previous surgeon and address nasal collapse from my first procedure. Unfortunately, my nostrils still look significantly uneven. Is there any way to avoid a third revision? Could a surgeon potentially shave or sculpt the scar tissue in the smaller nostril to better match the right side? I'm really hoping to avoid going through another surgery.
I am 10 months post op from a septo rhinoplasty and I am very unhappy with the results. My nose appears bigger than before, with a hump in the centre, and a tip that droops, especially when i smile. I really don't want to have another surgery, so i am wondering if it is possible that this will go away with time and if there is any non-surgical options to improve it.
I got my nose done almost 3 years ago and am thinking of doing a revision. The doctor told me if I use someone elses nose cartilage (my sisters because shes also getting a nose job) over my rib cartilage then my procedure will be cheaper. Is it okay for me to use my sisters nose cartilage?
I researched about deviated septum which is probably the main case of why I can't breath from one side of the nose, but I am also suspecting that osteotomy made my nasal passage / airway more smaller which is why I can't properly breath / always gasping for air.
My cartilage graft is visible and very prominent I think I should get a revision done .is it possible to hide this cartilage .will this be very difficult and will I need to have plaster kept on my nose like primary rhinoplasty . Will there be a lot of swelling since this is my secondary rhinoplasty or will it be less since it's just the tip.please help .
