I had a rhinoplasty and septoplasty done in April of 2022. I had a complication resulting in some facial trauma and an emergency surgery 6 days later. I ended up with a decent result that I'm ok with but I do have one noticeable defect- it's this white raised area of my nostril rims. One side is worse and looks like I have a drippy nose, making me self conscious. My surgeon said maybe it's protruding cartilage but didn't seem sure. What caused this and is there treatment?

Answer: If the white raised area on your right nostril rim is firm, it may indeed be cartilage.
A revision rhinoplasty can certainly address the issues you discuss. A graft can be placed on the bridge to remove the curve, and a septal extender with plumping grafts can give more columellar show. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.
Many patients benefit from microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections to camouflage visible pieces of native cartilage or grafted cartilage after previous rhinoplasty surgery. Examination would be necessary to determine somebody's candidacy. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
