I think what you are referring to as a delayed liposuction procedure refers only to external fat, the fat that is in the skin layer and not the fat that is inside your abdomen around your organs. Intra-abdominal fat cannot be treated, only extra-abdominal.Some doctors apparently do not suction upper abdominal fat at the time of a tummy tuck out of concern that the blood supply to the abdominal skin could be impaired leading to skin or fat necrosis (loss of tissue), particularly in the lower abdomen along the incision line. With regular liposuction that is probably a reasonable concern and this topic has been discussed among plastic surgeons for years. Personally I have found that with the use of vaser ultrasonic liposuction, there is no interference with blood supply and I can do liposuction of the abdomen, waist and flanks at the time of a tummy tuck. I prefer to do the procedures, vaser liposuction and tummy tuck at the same time. If you stage the procedures, it makes more sense to me to do the liposuction first, and then take care of the loose skin with the tummy tuck. If you do the tummy tuck first, then when you do the liposuction you will get more loose skin than you would want afterwards.
