I had a ruptured implant, which caused many health issues. Dr. Urzola managed to remove my implants en-bloc and reconstruct my breasts with the flap procedure. I am beyond happy with the outcome of my procedure. The attention I received before and after surgery was incredible. I highly recommend Dr. Urzola.
I chose Dr. Urzola due to his credentials, beautiful results, patient care, as well as aftercare. My personal experience was great from beginning to end. I chose to stay at Verdeza post surgery for 12 days w/24 hour nursing. Had 4 follow-up appointments post-surgery. I had explant, enbloc, a lift, and flap procedures all done in 4 hours. I explanted 8/06/19. The staff within his office, as well as the operating room at the hospital were all great, and w/positive attitudes. It's only been a couple weeks since my surgery, I am very happy so far. I will post before and after photos once I am healed. After my surgery was already scheduled, my implants were also recalled worldwide. Allergan Natrelle Inspira 650cc. I would like to also mention he gave me a video of my entire 4 hours of surgery, as well my implants to take with me. If you choose to do a consultation with him, you will see you're in good hands. His positivity, his skill, and his compassion are a recipe for a great outcome. I chose not to put pricing, because that is specific per patient, aftercare you choose, as well as Hospital costs. Thank you for reading my review! Updated on 7 Jun 2020: Excellent staff, over the top care pre and post procedure. Several post op visits to check on all patients recoveries. Dr. Urzola gives the best care, and my recovery was much better than expected. Four hours of reconstruction, and I didn’t even get nausea post surgery. He recovery center was incredible too. I trusted him with my life, literally. I would have him as my surgeon again if needed. Highly recommend him. I traveled from Las Vegas. Stayed in Marriott literally across street from his office. Then Verdeza for top notch Medical aftercare. I also had requested non-narcotic drugs and was still comfortable post procedure and recovery. Updated on 9 Jun 2020: Updated on 9 Jun 2020:
I can barely yet believe that I have been able to have rhinoplasty surgery completed. For most of my adult life, I have felt my nose was too large and overpowering on my small face. I’ve had several consultations with surgeons but was unable to go through with the surgery due to a few health issues. The last consultation I had in Canada was quite expensive so I started researching medical tourism. I decided on Costa Rica because of the high quality of care and the facilities. I then decided Dr. Victor Urzola with his impressive credentials and experience would be the best surgeon to perform my rhinoplasty. I asked many questions via the Dr.’s assistant, Paola, who was absolutely fabulous in answering my questions and assisting in arranging the details. I also had a Skype consultation with Dr. Urzola, who made me feel very confident in his skill as a plastic surgeon. Paola also sent me information on a recovery facility - Verdeza - in San Jose. A very good choice for me as a solo traveler as nursing care, meals and drives are all included, so I can focus on my healing. So, my surgery was yesterday in CIMA hospital - very clean & modern. No issues whatsoever and the nurses were all very kind and professional. One nurse even put some music on his phone for me to listen to for when I was waiting to go into the OR. The anesthesiologist was funny and nice also! So, after surgery and the recovery room, I was taped up well, brought back to Verdenza by my very dependable and pleasant driver and I awoke this morning with minimal discomfort. I slept in a hospital bed which is also provided in my room, so I am able to have my head elevated, which is essential. The nurses have been giving me medication for the discomfort which is by no means extreme at all. I cannot breathe through my nose, but it doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it might. I had my first check up with Dr. Urzola today and he was very pleased with the results. He showed me a photo of myself on the OR table and while I cannot yet see my nose myself, I feel confident in Dr. Urzola’s skill. So this is my story thus far. I have a series of appointments next week, so I really look forward to seeing how the results progress. I feel very happy that I’ve been able to have this surgery done by Dr. Urzola. I really believe this surgery will give my self-confidence a boost and I think I will even be able to wear a hat without feeling self-conscious! Some times it’s the little things in life that matter!
I've waited for what seems like my entire adult life to get a boob job. I never really hated my breasts, but with my height and being relatively lean, I've never felt particularly sexy or alluring. After much research, I chose Dr. Urzola to perform my procedure. While a lot of people have reservations about traveling abroad for surgery, I liked Dr. Urzola's more natural results and felt very comfortable during our Skype consult. If anything, he gently asked me to consider the potential risks and in no way pressured me to do the procedure. I will be in Escazu, San Jose, for the procedure and will be in-country for 10 days total. Currently very nervous but excited as well!! Updated on 14 Jan 2019: Wow, the first night kicked my butt!! I felt so good all day until I laid down, at which time I was in too much pain to sleep. The pressure in my chest and back kept me from getting comfortable. Last night was a little more manageable and I hope to feel better every day. I'm currently feeling a little numbness and my boobs look very tight and hard. Im hoping the healing process goes well! I did end up going a little larger than I thought - 280 ccs under the muscle (motiva ergonomix) Updated on 27 Jan 2019: I'm feeling better every single day! My swelling is nearly gone and I'm starting to drop as well. My post-surgery bloat is nearly gone too!
I had an explant and fat transfer in January of this year (220cc's in each side), and now have a golf-ball sized lump on the one side! I've lost a fair bit of volume, but still have about 1 1/2 cup sizes improvement and have been hoping they'll "fluff" as many reviewers have said. They still look a bit wonky, (especially the left side). I am so upset!!! Has anyone else had this??? What happened?? What helped or didn't help???
Dr. Urzola is truly a rare find. He is not only a highly skilled surgeon with an impressive resume but he is also by far the most kind, compassionate, honest, genuine, tender hearted doctor I have ever met. And that's saying a lot from someone who has worked in the medical field for 22 years, 11 years as a Physician Assistant. Some people may say that is a bold statement, but I am being completely honest. Dr. Urzola truly is the best of the best! Dr. Urzola takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows in his incredible results. He takes on the most complicated explant/en bloc cases in the world (yes, women come to him from ALL over the world); cases other doctors turn away. I was one of those patients. I consulted with a number of plastic surgeons in the US, all of whom either blatantly turned me away or told me I would end up grossly deformed. Dr. Urzola was the only surgeon who gave me hope. He was honest with me and admitted that my case (explant, en bloc and lift) was going to be complicated but he promised he would do his very best. I knew he would and he did! Not only did Dr. Urzola restore my health by removing my toxic breast implants but he also gave me perfectly shaped beautiful breasts. He did a far better job than I ever imagined was possible! My experience in Costa Rica was phenomenal. Not only was I well cared for by Dr. Urzola but also by Dr. Masis, the anesthesiologist, and the rest of the surgical team. In addition, Paola and Leidy, Dr. Urzola's coordinators, were incredibly compassionate and sensitive to my needs. They answered all of my questions and were very organized. I feel blessed that God lead me to Dr. Urzola and his amazing team. They changed my life for the better! I am eternally grateful!!
Recently had a tummy tuck with Dr Urzola. I am only giving a 5 star because Dr Urzola is an amazing doctor and person. However, his staff leaves much to be desired. Extremely unorganized and there are always changes. In my opinion this office is not ready for medical tourism and does not know how to deal with patients coming from abroad. Which is a shame because the doctor is very talented. Dr Urzola seems like a world class doctor but his staff, protocols and facilities are lacking to say the least. If I had to do it all over again I would not use Dr Urzola simply because of how unorganized they are, made me stressed my entire time there and made me question my decision. Once again, Dr Urzola is amazing and talented but being so all over the place makes me not trust going there again.
There are literally not enough words to describe how amazing Dr Urzola is. His genuine compassion, kindness and true concern are only rivaled by his amazing expertise as a surgeon. I had an en bloc resection, a lift and a fat transfer. I am so thrilled with my results and I thought going to another country was crazy at first but wow Costa Rica and all the people there are so amazing and the recovery process was so much better being away from home with no distractions and doing nothing but focusing on my recovery. Everything else was taken care of for me. Dr Urzola's staff is also amazing. It is truly one of those experiences you have to live to fully "get it" I was so at ease and calm knowing I was in such capable hands. The follow up care since I have been back home was also truly amazing.
There isn't room for me to post my gratitude at Doctor Victor Urzola & his incredible team for helping me get my life, health, and body back after suffering from Breast Implant Illness. I had an explant, en bloc, fat transfer and lift. He gave me back my 17 year old breast. They look amazing, and I feel so good about the whole experience. Doctor Urzola is overqualified in his field. He studied reconstructive surgery for breast cancer patients, and he knows how to put a woman back together again. I am forever grateful for his help in giving me back my body and my life, and for making my breast beautiful again.
I just wanted to write a little but detailed review about my experience travelling out of country for a proper enbloc explantation of my implants with mastopexy and fat transfer. I first decided to get implants about 3 and a half years ago on a whim. I was actually looking to get a breast lift but the ps at the time told me it would be useless and i needed a small implant to balance out my lower half/shape. Due to nursing i had a very saggy left breast which would fall out of swim suit. I would always be tucking it back in and i would never take my top of with my husband. I was very insecure about the appearance of my breasts. I was super lopsided as well, so bra shopping was a task. I was hoping he could just remove some skin, even me out and maybe throw in a areola reduction. I somehow left booked for a set of saline implants. We disagreed about size and i ended up with a smaller implant that i requested, which eventually dropped. I then had to go under again and get a saline fill. My breasts were like rocks. I started to develop a breast wound which wouldnt heal for the longest time.....week after week of wound debridement and was left with an awful scar. And eventually capsular contracture. Within the same time frame i started to have weird symptoms. My eye started twitching non stop, my face would go numb. my body would ache over nothing to the point i wanted to cry all the time. I became dizzy on and off first and eventually collapsed in the chicago airport on the way to see my husband. my bp was low but other than that they couldn't figure it out. I questioned my implants but ended up thinking that i was crazy and my ps at the time said it was likely not my implants but that my cc and wound should be fixed so lets go in and see if there are issues and replace. I don't regret this because i truly believe everything happens for a reason and i would not have found Dr Urzola or explanted properly (full capsule removal) if i had done it then. Replacing did not help my health and i ended up being diagnosed with Lyme disease. The thing is many women who have breast implant illness are also diagnosed with lyme. There is a definite connection and a fair amount of controversy surrounding this... I treated my lyme and got somewhat better but my LLMD (lyme doc) told me i needed to remove my implants due to potential biofilms being able to hide in the chest wall. My autoimmune issues aswell, and toxic load ( i was also diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis at 37 which is rare. I've carried the gene my whole life and just started to get signs on my MRI of sacroilitis which usually occurs at a younger age if you are to be affected). I've suffered from back pain and neck pain with terrible headaches on top of a long list of other symptoms. I didn't want to take a chance with this. I was also reached out to by a girl who is now a very close friend of mine who has lyme, removed her implants and is a lot better. I knew what i had to do but of course was terrified of results so i did my research and met another lady who introduced me per say to Dr urzolas practice , who also suffered from illness, and is now better. He is supportive of our issues and also cares about results so he was perfect for me. I needed a doc who didn't think implant illness was just the craziest thing in the world and i really wanted to some reconstruction as well so as i could feel comfortable in my own skin. Moving forward to deciding to take those puppies out! I planned my trip to Costa Rica 3 months out which gave me plenty of time to sort out babysitting, work, etc. I had 1 skype consult with Dr Urzola and fell in love with who he is a person and a doctor. It's very rare you find such a talented surgeon who truly does care about his patient, their conditions and their very specific needs. He really listens and i really talk lol. I decided to go all out and try for fat transfer which doesn't always take. Especially if you have bigger implants/pocket and do the procedure all at once over waiting 6 mnths for the pocket to heal and then inject the fat. But i really just wanted 1 surgery in my current condition. He uses platelet rich plasma which basically feeds the fat and provides structure for the growth of blood vessels to promote the fats survival. It also helps with healing of the area. I expect to loose about 50%. At week 3 now and i'm hoping i've stabilized. By one month the fat should be stable he says. He also advises HBOT to help the fat survive. So you go to these sessions right after your surgery ideally. Alot of what you see in the beginning is swelling too which i realized quite fast. I will post pics so you can see what the dif is and what is actually swelling and what is fat loss. All in all. I'm very happy with my results and i wouldn't think twice about recommending him to anyone for any procedures. He provides a video so as you can see that ALL your capsule is removed from your chest cavity as far as enbloc removal goes. I was not an easy case according to him and he took almost 6 hours to make sure he had gotten it all and also provided me with the best results that my body would allow. Post op i was pretty sick and he was there for me and covered all basis. Even now that i am back in Canada he still is reachable if you have any issues at all or questions. He is a very very talented doctor and a wonderful human being. I'll post some pics from pre explant and then the beginning. Day 1 after explant, then day 4 (when i was verrrrry swollen) then 2 and half weeks as it started to subside and then 3 weeks with my tape off and the swelling had dissipated. I will end up being a B cup i think which is just fine with me. I have no denting as of yet or wrinkling. I love my small nipples and if i want to i can probably go braless! wooooooo hoo lol. I think if anything the fat transfer helps with just filling in small spaces so you appear more even and the skin is smoother. I had very little breast tissue. I've had no headaches or neck pain thus far.My headaches were horrendous. My nails are oddly growing again. My sweat smells better. Other symptoms will take some time im sure but any symptom gone is a win for me. Any questions let me know. I hope this was helpful xo Mia :)
Just like the presence of a breast implant shouldn't interfere with a mammogram and the correct diagnosis of breast cancer, the capsule should not interfere with a mammogram.
I strongly recommend the capsule to be removed. The more explant enbloc procedures I do the more convinced I am that patients are presenting improvements in the way they feel. There is still much to be cleared out about breast illness and the involvement or not of the breast implant and its capsule, but until we can give a precise cause to this problem and specially noticing how patients refer to improve after this procedure, I think removing both is the way to go.
Dear patient,After seen your pictures I think you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck. Under the best of circumstances you should arrive to your ideal weight before doing the procedure, but 5 pounds wont make a significant difference in the outcome. It is very important that you allocate the proper time for your recuperation, that you have someone to help you during this time and that you try to keep a healthy diet and exercise on a regular basis after you have clearance from your doctor to exercise.
It is very important that you consult with your doctor right away. You will most likely need IV antibiotics.Best regards,Dr Urzola
Dear patient,Thank you for your question. Although I would prefer to see your pictures or have a personal consultation with you, from your medical history, it sounds like you are an excellent candidate for a breast reduction. The the best indication for this surgery is in patients who's breasts produce back problems and in your case I believe it would be on great help to alleviate the stress on your back.I hope this information was helpful.Best regards,Dr Urzola
