It is possible to have both a lower body lift and a breast lift done in the same surgery. Although, when having an extensive lower body lift, it may be best to not add on another extensive surgery. A lot of my patients do add on an arm lift or thigh reduction to a lower body lift. Others are best suited for staged surgeries - one will focus on upper body such as arms, outer chest, back and breasts and another day will focus on the lower body. This is safer and will allow you to heal better. You will also get a better overall result for either upper or lower body if you focus on one at a time.A lower body lift does include a tummy tuck, which in my practice includes tightening of the abdominal muscles, a pubic lift, liposuction and contouring of the waistline. Dear Isalu82,I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
A body lift is a procedure that addresses loose skin on both the front and the back of the body. Most patients after bariatric surgery and massive weight loss reach their desired weight but are left with significant loose skin on their abdomen, buttocks and outer thighs. This procedure includes a tummy tuck with incisions extended all the way around the body to redrape the skin of the buttocks and outer thighs. It is possible to have a body lift and a breast lift at the same time. Consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon in your area to determine if you are a candidate. Good Luck!
Hello and thank you for your questions. Yes, a lower body lift can be performed at the same time as a breast lift and it includes a tummy tuck. I recommend that you consult with a board-eligible or board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery. In your consultation, be sure your surgeon addresses all your concerns and discusses the surgery details including the type of incision, the risks and benefits of the procedure, recovery time, and postoperative course .I believe one key aspect of the consultation is to establish a good connection with your plastic surgeon. If you don't feel you have a good connection with your plastic surgeon after your consultation, then they may not be the best surgeon for you. Best wishes!Olivier A. Dear Isalu82,It is technically possible to combine both procedures however your risk of complications goes up significantly if the operative time exceeds 6hrs. It would be very difficult to complete both procedures within that amount of time. It is always tempting to combine everything you want in to one surgery, but remember that this is elective cosmetic surgery and there is no reason to put yourself or your outcome in jeopardy. I see that you are in the Sacramento area. I would recommend seeing Dr. Jeffery Sweat for a consultation. Good luck.
"Body lifts" refer to contouring procedures that treat the trunk circumferentially. In this respect, a tummy-tuck (abdominoplasty) is done in the front and the incision is carried around to the back to remove the excess skin and fat from the posterior trunk as well. Plastic surgeons have many names for these procedures, including body-lift, circumferential abdominoplasty, belt lipectomy, or lower body lift.Body lifts can often be safely done at the same time as a breast lift in many patients, but the decision to combine these two procedures needs to be balanced with patient safety and often depends on individual patient factors, including the anticipated length of surgery, medical history, and current BMI (body mass index). The best advice is to obtain a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Thanks for your question, Isalu82.Theoretically, it is possible to combine a lower body lift with a breast lift. However, that depends on your condition and your surgeon’s discretion. Surgery under general anesthesia should only last for about six hours because the risks increase dramatically after that. So, it really depends on the evaluation of a reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon on your situation. And yes, a lower body lift usually includes a tummy tuck.Best of luck!
Hello and thank you for your question. A lower body lift does include a tummy tuck and a breast lift can be done at the same time. Be aware however that a lower body lift will not be performed the same way by different surgeons. If a buttock auto augmentation is not done with the lower body lift your buttocks will be flattened and your hip waistline masculinized. Whomever you do see make sure they have multiple before and after photos to review.Peter Fisher M.DPost massive weight loss body contouring specialist
