I had an umbilical hernia repair when i was a child. I had lipo/bbl 6 months ago. The surgeon did not lipo the lower abdomen so i am left with a kangaroo pouch. My question is this: can i get my lower abdomen lipo suctioned with having an umbilical hernia repair or was this just my surgeon's preference? I'm considering round 2 lipo with a less aggressive surgeon. I am still trying to fix the fibrosis that developed after my surgery.

Answer: Liposuctiion Yes, you can have liposuction of the upper or lower abdomen after an umbilical hernia repair. However, from your photos the recommended procedure would be a tummy tuck. This would remove the excess skin, fat, and correct abdominal wall laxity. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation to learn more.

Answer: Tummy tuck Dear mrsstaten, based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Flanks liposuction would give you a better shape. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Liposuction Based on these pictures, it appears that you also have excess skin above and below your belly button. Liposuction alone, would not help you improve that, in fact, it could make it more noticeable. You probably would benefit from an abdominoplasty, but in order to decide that, I encourage you to undergo an evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Also, it is important to identify if you have any recurrence of your hernia.

Answer: Can I have lower abdomen liposuction if I had an umbilical hernia repair previously? If you're considering undergoing a procedure like lower abdomen liposuction after having had an umbilical hernia repair, it's crucial to consult with a qualified medical professional who specializes in plastic surgery and hernia repairs. They will be able to assess your specific situation and provide personalized advice based on your medical history, current health, and the details of your previous surgery. In some cases, it might be possible to have liposuction after a hernia repair, but it depends on various factors such as the type of hernia repair you had, the location of the hernia repair, the amount of time that has passed since the surgery, and your overall health. Liposuction involves the removal of fat cells from underneath the skin, and it's essential to ensure that the procedure won't compromise the integrity of the previous hernia repair or lead to any complications. Before proceeding with any cosmetic procedure, especially if you have a history of surgeries or medical conditions, it's highly recommended to consult with both a skilled cosmetic surgeon and the surgeon who performed your hernia repair. They can work together to determine the feasibility and safety of the procedure and provide guidance tailored to your specific situation.Remember, your safety and well-being should always be the top priority, so it's crucial to receive professional medical advice before making any decisions.
