Question

Would I be a good candidate for rhinoseptoplasty to straighten my nose? I went to an ENT for breathing issues out of nose and he said I have a deviated septum. I’ve Wanted to get my nose fixed for a while, but is the cosmetic portion recovery that much worse than a septoplasty? Thanks

Hi. The nose looks crooked from the front and the nasal wingslook some wide. The condition of the nose is seen more clearly during examination. Based on your photo, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. If you need a septoplasty, it is definitely beneficial to do the rhinoplasty at the same time because some of the septal cartilage may be used in the rhinoplasty. The recovery is not bad - more bruising and swelling than septoplasty, but the down time is close to the same. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

hello. Rhinoplasty surgery will not be too difficult than septoplasty. It adds a further 3-4 days recovery period. However, it is not possible to correct the curvature on the outside of your nose with septoplasty. if this does not improve, your breathing problem will not disappear completely. Thank you for your question. First, you are a beautiful lady. You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty. I think it is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, your nose can be straightened with Rhinoplasty. Maneuvers would include osteotomies, placement of spreader grafts, nasal tip deprojection, among other maneuvers. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. A combination of functional and cosmetic procedure  is called septorhinoplasty. Breathing issues  are treated with septoplasty and turbinate management while cosmetic correction of the external nose is addressed with rhinoplasty. A cosmetic rhinoplasty can be performed in conjunction with a functional septoplasty. A closed cosmetic rhinoplasty can accomplish straightening those, removing a dorsal hump, and narrowing the bridge line with all of the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. A septoplasty is performed in the back of the nose for a deviated septum  blocking airflow. Neither one of these procedures are painful because no packing is placed on the inside of the nose. Anticipate a cast across the bridge of the nose for one week, and congestion related to both rhinoplasty and septoplasty about a week to 10 days. Rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so it's imperative to seek out a rhinoplasty specialist with extensive experience straightening crooked noses.
