Would I be a good candidate for rhinoseptoplasty to straighten my nose? I went to an ENT for breathing issues out of nose and he said I have a deviated septum. I’ve Wanted to get my nose fixed for a while, but is the cosmetic portion recovery that much worse than a septoplasty? Thanks

Answer: Rhinoplasty to improve shape while undergoing septoplasty... Based on your photo, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. If you need a septoplasty, it is definitely beneficial to do the rhinoplasty at the same time because some of the septal cartilage may be used in the rhinoplasty. The recovery is not bad - more bruising and swelling than septoplasty, but the down time is close to the same. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

I think it is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.
