Neck lipoma removal recovery time?

Question

Getting a lipoma at the bottom of my neck removed I am a cashier so I move my neck quite often. Should I take a day or 2 off work?

In most cases lipoma removal requires minimal downtime and I would allow at least one day's time.  Much will depend on what part of the neck the lipoma is being removed from.  Talk to your surgeon, they can offer you the best advice.

Recovery time varies patient to patient, based on size, location, and depth of the incision. I would recommend talking to the surgeon doing the procedure about what they suggest, but typically all patients can benefit from 1 or 2 days recovery time.

The recovery time after removal of a lipoma on the neck would be influenced by how large the lipoma is.  If it is fairly small, the recovery time may just be a day or two.  If it is large, it could be 1-2 weeks.  I would speak with the surgeon who will be removing your lipoma to discuss recovery time and any possible limits to your activity after the removal.

Not likely that you need time off after excision of a lipoma in the neck. In general, large lipomas (>5 cm) may warrant taking one or 2 days off.Apply Scar Serum to reduce scarring and avoid sun exposure to prevent hyperpigmentation of the wound. H Karamanoukian MD FACS
