Lipoma large red and Infected - green discharge on scalp. (Photos)

Question

Finally after 8 yrs Lipoma rupture last Nov.2016 thinking finally was over, I was wrong it gradually began to grow huge then turn RED. 2 months ago it ruptured again but green and clear fluid came out . It hurts and keeps leaking every day. General Anesthesia as it goes in IV I can't breathe before and after surg. I also cry when I wake up without being able to stop even if my Life depends on it I get put on 24hr hold in hosp. Can it be done with OUT General Anesthesia? I'm in OC need a Dr.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  It appears that you have an infected sebaceous or epidermal inclusion cyst in your scalp which can be treated with excision of the internal contents and surrounding covering.  This can be performed under local anesthesia in an office based setting.  Be sure to see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation.

This is a cyst and with my experience of being double board certified in dermatology and cosmetic surgery and treating 100s exactly just like yours over 19 years I have never needed to used anything but local numbing.  Rather simple treatment in my opinion and being a prefered provider for all insurances helps as well.  Board certified dermatologist specializing in surgical treatment is key here.

Likely you have an infected scalp cyst; we treat these routinely and it does require I and D then excision of the cyst shell 5 days later; insurance does cover this procedure and yes it can be done in the office.
