Thank you for sharing your excellent question. In general the decision for anesthesia is best made depending on the location of the lipoma and the overall health of the patient. I have taken out lipomas in excess of 12x15cm in the office without issue. Hope this helps.
It is important to determine if this encases surrounding tissue (neurovascular bundle) if it is a liposarcoma or if it is a simple lipoma based on MRI.
