Liposuction of Flanks and Back areas are wonderful ways in most of my liposuction patients to improve their waist line.
I suggest you get a hi definition body shaping procedure, this is more meticulous and involves removing more fat and sculpting the body which leaves it with more shape and definition. In my practice I do the entire torso --- 360 degrees all the way around the stomach to get the best results with regards to the mid section.
Thank you for your question. Nothing can replace an in-person evaluation, or a series of photographs, but in general, the flanks and back are excellent sites for liposuction as the skin retracts nicely after treatment, and significant contouring can be done to improve one's overall shape.
Without photos or an in person exam, it is impossible to say for sure. But liposuction on the flanks and back is an extremely effective and popular procedure. Best, Dr. Nazarian
If there is significant fat in the back and flank area liposuction indeed can give you a very good result. Photographs would help for the purposes of this website. Best is an examination in person.
Without photos it is difficult to give specific advise. You did not state if you had your procedure done under local only or sedation as well. Local anesthesia is OK for fat debulking, but liposculpting is not tolerated well without IV sedation. In general, I personally, never just do liposuction of the abdomen only. I prefer circumferential liposuction of the whole midsection, including the abdomen, back, bra rolls, waist and hips to get the best body shape improvement. Going back, especially in to an area that was already treated it is more difficult due to the internal scarring. I use the VASER technique in conjunction with the Power X (a rotating aspiration cannula) to achieve the desired results. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation/evaluation. good luck.
Thank you for your question. Certainly can improve shape in these areas by doing lipo. But it depending on the person and in person evaluation needed and to discuss your goal.
The lower back, hip and flank areas can be extremely important in improving the shape and appearance of the waist and back. Yes you can really improve those areas.
When patients failed to see improvements after liposuction it is usually because they were either not a good candidate for the procedure for the procedure was not performed well. it is rare in my practice to liposuction the abdomen without treating the hips and waist or flank area. It typically leads to it on natural fat distribution.Generally what would make someone a good candidate for liposuction is if they have a tight skin thick layers of subcutaneous fat and no underlying other issues such as muscle separation from previous pregnancies or intra-abdominal fat. I would follow up with your plastic surgeon and have him or her address your concerns. If you were not pleased with the work then you may want to consider getting a second opinion. Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
Of all the areas on which lipo is performed, the flanks (love-handles) can be among the most gratifying as the skin is relatively thick. That means that a good amount of fat can be removed with a relatively lower likelihood of irregularities. The back is characterized by thick skin but not usually that much excess fat (more loose and redundant skin than just fat). It is almost always done when someone is having more extensive lipo (such as of the flanks, stomach and/or thighs) but usually produces a somewhat less dramatic result than for the other areas. You should of course discuss all of this in person with a board-certified plastic surgeon - but it sounds like you will derive benefit from lipo in these areas.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf100
In general the positive impact of liposuction in the same area decreases with successive attempts and the risk for contour irregularity and asymmetry increases. Losing the weight you gained may be the best initial step
I have reviewed your photos. It appears you will have more hanging skin where you already have hanging skin on your lower abdomen. However, you will have a lot less fat. I would recommend your also do your hips and flanks for a more streamlined appearance.
I typically have my patients wear and change pads/foam dressings on their incision sites under their compression garments for 7 days following a liposuction procedure or until dressings appear dry. After that, no dressings are needed, but I prescribe the pressure garment to be worn for 8 weeks...
