I am very strict with my hi definition patients that they need to wear the garment for 4 weeks. they are in a double compression with foam padding under the large body suit. I suggest you speak to your physician if you have not gotten the appropriate direction. As well, venus legacy or velashape treatments should be done to improve the results. Best, Dr. Emer.
Ask your surgeon as each has his or her specific post op protocol, but typically, you can stop with the sponge padding within 24-48 hours. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Any absorbent pad can be discontinued when drainage from the access points for liposuction close. This is usually within 24 to 48 hours. Specific instruction should come from your own surgeon however.
Thank you for the question. I typically ask patients to wear the topifoam pads (sponge padding) for approximately 2 weeks post op. The topifoam pads help to splint the skin holding it in place during the initial healing. If after removal one notices irregularities forming, I ask the patient to continue to wear them for another 2 weeks thereafter. Best wishes.
In my practice there is no need to use the sponge under the garment , but you need to ask your doctor
That is up to your surgeon. While in the last 25 years of practice I have not found that the sponge makes much/any difference in the long term result, I would not criticize using it. Depending on circumstances it may well help reduce irregularities from fibrosis. In MY opinion because the vast majority of meaningful swelling is typically gone by the end of the third week, it seems to me that three weeks would be plenty compared to any perceived benefit of using it longer.
I typically have my patients wear and change pads/foam dressings on their incision sites under their compression garments for 7 days following a liposuction procedure or until dressings appear dry. After that, no dressings are needed, but I prescribe the pressure garment to be worn for 8 weeks following the procedure--day and night for the first 4 weeks, then daily only for the next 4 weeks. This helps resolve swelling sooner and in my opinion, assist with maintaining a smooth contour.
Great question. The reality is, if there were no dents before the liposuction, there should not be dents after the procedure. Some people have skin with laxity, dents and ripples before liposuction which may be exacerbated after the liposuction. Much has to to with experience, technique and...
Well, there are a lot of factors that can cause creases. The biggest concerns timing after your surgery. Creases appearing shortly after surgery very often disappear as swelling subsides. Compressive garments worn after surgery are certainly helpful in reducing swelling more...
Healing after the #tummytuck will require time. Some patients are out of bed and walking the night of surgery and every hour while awake. I allow my patients to return to work at one to two weeks with 14 days preferred. However, no lifting or straining. At three weeks, increased level of a...
Because of anxiety many patients can have temporarily elevated blood pressure. Minor elevation of blood pressure is not a contraindication to surgery. Purchase a blood pressure monitoring device and check your blood pressure at home several times during the day over number of days. Record these...
Once your thyroid is under control and your levels are normal, then yes, it should be safe for you to get liposuction. Make sure that your endocrinologist signs off on the procedure and speaks with your surgeon so everyone is on the same page. Best, Dr. Nazarian
