Juvederm Voluma is a hyaluranic acid filler.  A wonderful aspect to these injections are the ability to see results immediately after the injection.  There are times when results can be subtle but beautiful.  When I have patients with concerns about their injections, I will review their before and after photos.  The review of the photos are the only objective means to judge your results.Discuss your concerns with your injector and review your pictures.  That will help you get the answers you are seeking.  I hope this helps.   

Hi Alison. It is correct that it can take up to 2 weeks to see the full results from Juvederm Voluma. However, if enough product was used then you should notice some difference immediately after the treatment. It is possible that you may need more than the 4 syringes you received. You should follow up with your injector to compare before and after photos to determine whether there was any difference. You can voice your concerns to your injector at that time also. Often result variation is technique dependent. It is highly unusual to have no results. Voluma is an ideal treatment for enhancement of the mid face. It works beautifully to correct malar fat descension and aging of the mid face. In some case it is been shown to last up to 2 years. It is not FDA approved for any other location other than mid face. It is a deep injection just off the bone and requires expertise in injecting. It should only be injected by a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I would recommend you discuss your issue with a board certified dermatologist.

Juvederm Voluma is a long-lasting, hyaluronic
acid based filler used to volumize and lift the mid-cheek area. Results can be
seen immediately with these kinds of fillers, so it is strange that 4 syringes
have not made any noticeable changes in your appearance. Although 4 syringes of
any kind of filler may sound like a lot, it is possible you may need more. The
amount of Juvederm Voluma necessary will of course vary from patient to
patient, but to give you a point of comparison, in Allergan’s clinical study the
average amount of product injected for optimal correction was 6-8 syringes.

You should certainly schedule a follow-up with
your physician to discuss your concerns and evaluate your before and after
photos. Before and after photos are an important tool in
my office. Some patients can understandably forget what their baseline looked
like, and are often pleasantly surprised to see the changes apparent that they
otherwise could not pinpoint.

It may also be beneficial to note that an
injector’s understanding of where and how filler is placed is paramount to
satisfactory results. A syringe of filler is small in volume in relation to the
face, so knowing proper placement can make all the difference. With that being said,
to get the most out of your filler, always seek out a board certified Dermatologist who has been properly trained, with an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy
and structure.

Hello Alison,I would follow up with your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. While it may take two weeks to see the true result, there should be a noticeable change after the injection of 4 syringes.  

I have yet to inject a patient with 4 syringes at one time, and in practice I cannot imagine not seeing results with that many syringes. Can you post photos so we can see and perhaps give you advice?
