It's been stated when fat deposits won't respond to diet and exercise, liposuction can be a solution. I know the best candidate is in a normal weight range already, but is it possible to better results with pre-op exercise? For example, I eat clean and work out 6x a week, but I can't shake the "pooch" or inner/back thigh fat. I'm 20, 5'4, 135 lbs and can feel muscle under that fat.. I just can't see it. What happens if a patient resumes toning/vigorous cardio post op? How does cellulite respond?

Answer: Lipo vs. ton exercices? Yes, we feel toning exercises are always best BUT, there are certain areas that do not respond no matter how hard you work at the gym. Liposuction is an answer but you must do due diligence to be sure your surgeon is an expert in this procedure.

Answer: Liposuction for body contouring Liposuction may better be termed liposculpture. Best results are seen in those that are close to ideal body weight but have a problem area or two such as you describe. Exercising preoperatively will definitely improve your result. Postoperatively, you will want to limit vigorous exercise for a a short time period and then may resume full activity. Cellulite will not respond to liposuction, unfortunately. It sounds like you have done a good bit of research. The next step would be a consultation with a plastic surgeon. While many may market ultrasound-assisted liposuction or laser lipo, I don't think there is good evidence to support these over traditional liposuction. The skill of the surgeon is probably going to make a bigger difference. For more information on liposuction, please visit the link below.
