I would not look to liposuction is a substitute for weight loss. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure that will result in some weight loss but is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise.

Hello Jithin and thanks for your question. Liposuction is generally not considered a weight loss surgery. It is an operation which can help you to achieve a better body shape once you have achieved your ideal body weight. There are different kinds of liposuction techniques, but each one has a different risk/benefit profile. I prefer to use power-assisted liposuction, which is based on using a low grade mechanical force with liposuction to break the fat down and remove it more effectively. I have been using this technique for 12 years and I cannot imagine switching because patients do so well, have a quick recovery and have less bruising and swelling. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Unfortunately, liposuction is not a tool for weight loss.  You probably won't see much changes in scale, but may see changes in measurements of your body (inches). I highly recommend a healthy diet and exercise regimen to follow for your weight loss goals.

The outcome of a liposuction procedure is never measured on the scale by weight loss but rather by improved contour. The fat removed never weighs as much as the physical change would suggest and that's because it's coming from very specific areas, unlike general weight loss that is about evenly distributed. So two pounds off from lipo can look the same as 15 pounds of general weight loss when inspecting the area that's been treated.
