Hello,Voluma or any other injectables can be used on people who take blood thinners but they will have a higher chance of bruising/hematomas. I have patients hold pressure post injection for at least 15- 30 minutes if they are on blood thinners. We treat bruises with topical arnica and patients can come in the next day for IPL (intense pulsed light) laser to break up the bruises. After an IPL session, bruises typically diminish in 1-2 days. The IPL laser targets the oxyhemoglobin in the bruise and causes it to metabolize more quickly. Please ensure you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and explain that you are on a blood thinner pre injection. Good Luck.
Thank you for sharing your question. The risk of bleeding and bruising is much higher when treating a patient on anticoagulants, but it can be done. Hope this helps.
Yes, you can get Voluma and Filler injections while on blood thinners however it increases the risk of bleeding and bruising. If you cannot stop the blood thinners then I would recommended getting your injections using a microcannula which will decrease the risks of bleeding and bruising. Hope this helps answer your question.
Yes, but you are going to be at a much higher risk for bruising which is already a common side effect with Voluma. If you can, I would recommend going off the blood thinner for a couple of weeks prior to your appointment. If you can't do this, make sure to let your injector know that you are taking a blood thinner as if may affect your post op protocol.
Hello and Thanks for the Question. As a facial plastic surgeon I am very mindful of anti-coagulation and the risk of bleeding. It is no different with fillers. I would be very cautious and advise individuals against fillers while on Eilquis or any other blood thinning agent. My main mantra is Patient Safety First. The risk of bruising/hematoma (blood collection) is much higher which may lead to complications. I recommend being off of any blood thinning agent for at least 2 weeks before any procedure, including filler, is performed. Good luck and I hope this helps!Dr David
You can have Voluma injections while on blood thinners, but it will increase the risk of bleeding and bruising at the injection site. The use of a cannula (blunt hollow tube) instead of a needle can reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding. Use of a VBeam laser on the bruises can help to resolve them faster. Make sure you see an experienced board certified physician. Good luck!
It can be done but you are going to be at a higher risk for bruising. Make sure to see a very experienced injector and just know that your recovery may take longer than the average patient. Best of luck.
Thank you for your excellent question. Taking a blood thinner such as Eliquis will certainly increase your risk for bleeding and subsequent bruising. NSAIDS, aspirins and fish oils also increase the risk for bruising. I generally recommend that my patients avoid these over the counter products for 1 week prior to a planned injection in order to minimize the risk for bruising. In your case, please be sure to review your medical history and your medications with your injector prior to treatment in order to determine the best treatment plan. Hope this helps and best wishes!
This is an excellent question. While you can be treated with Voluma or other fillers while taking blood thinners like Eliquis, this will increase your risk of bleeding during your treatment, and bruising afterwards. In some cases, using a cannula to inject can reduce the risk of bruising, and certain lasers can be used afterwards to help any bruising you experience fade faster. I would recommend reviewing all of your medications with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon during your consultation. Best of luck!
We love symmetry. Most people need or want more fillers for their left side of the face for symmetry. Sleeping on your left side and driving a lot without sun protection will cause more collagen loss on the left side of your face. Stay skintastic
The under eye area is probably one of the most sensitive on the face so bruising not atypical. However, the bruise in the eye is not normal. Make an appointment to see your surgeon to be examined in person.
I often mix different fillers for a given patient. The fillers all have different qualities and if your physician is only using one type of filler then they are not taking advantage of how best to contour and do cosmetic injections. Please consult an expert in cosmetic injections for the b...
