Does anyone know if it is OK to have laser hair removal prior to surgery?

As long as the laser hair removal is not within the area of any proposed surgical incision, it should probably be fine. Your surgeon should be able to give you exact advice on this. Overall, the risk of complication should be relatively low.

Presumably the laser hair removal is in the bikini area?  Laser hair removal usually does not produce a wound.  I see no contraindication to doing laser hair removal prior to a tummy tuck.  Both procedures are elective, however, why not postpone the laser hair removal?

We recommend shaving prior to laser hair removal.  Although this is a bit of a stretch, sometimes shaving can lead to folliculitis (small micro infections) which can potentially be an issue if an incision is made in the same spot.  Of course any rare complications such as burns may pose a problem as well.    Best of luck.
