Almost 3 months post tummy tuck. A spot on my scar has opened up and now another spot that's very soft. Is this normal? (Photo)

Thanks for your question.  It could be a stitch that never dissolved working its way out.  I would recommend warm compresses, and keeping an eye on it.  If it does open up, it should heal fine.  Best to speak to your plastic surgeon who performed the procedure.  All the best,

It appears that you are suffering from "stitch abscesses."  These are localized areas of infection, largely due to delayed or slow absorption of suture material that is just under the skin.  Typically treatment involves removing the suture material and allowing your body to heal from the inside out with conservative dressings.  Be sure to inform your surgeon, they will want to know about your incision issue.

Typically, these represent areas where the stitches may be spitting out. Best to follow up with your operating surgeon so he or she can properly examine and evaluate you. Remember to keep these areas clean. Good luck!

The wounds opening may be stitch abscesses (which will heal easily) or another, likely not concerning processes.  I'd discuss the matter with your surgeon.  Your result looks great, and your scar looks like it's still immature and healing well.  Things should only look better with time.  It is imperative that you seek the advice of a plastic
surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has
extensive experience in tummy tuck/abdominoplasty.

From your description and photos, you may have had suture spitting/abscess.Please visit your plastic surgeon to be evaluated and get his/her recommendation.

Your pictures are consistent with small suture abscess that ultimately work their way out of the body. The body reacts to the suture with an intense inflammatory reaction that forms fluid similar to a pimple and will come to a head and drain. This is not an allergic reaction necessarily. It is fairly common even out to 6 months post op. Follow up with your plastic surgeon and sometimes the small residual suture can be easily removed to epidite the healing process. You still should heal and scar fine though.

Even at 3 months you could have an area of stitch abscess or small portion of wound that wants to open up.  Be sure to protect the area from irritation from clothing and keep an eye on it.  Most likely does not represent a serious problem and your scar would re-heal nicely.  Be sure to share your concerns with your surgeon.  Best wishes.

First, I think you're result looks fantastic.  The scar will continue to mature over the next 9 months or so.  The areas of concern likely represent what are known as stitch abscesses.  These are simply areas where the suture material that typically dissolves has instead made it's way to the surface.  This will heal on its own and should not have any serious consequences with regard to the final outcome of your scar.  I would, of course, advise you to see your surgeon and make sure that he or she agrees with this assessment.  Best of luck to you.
