Hi - soon after (few hours) i had voluma in my mid cheeks - one side is really throbbing deeply and looks slightly swollen and hard (not red). The other cheek is perfect with no problems at all! I know swelling and hardness can be normal and take about 2 weeks to settle - but the throbbing pain is really intense almost like a drill on the bone. Im pretty sure its not an infection. Please can someone advise what this throbbing pain could be please and whats best to do as I'm in pain! Many Thanks
Answer: Voluma Thank you for your question. The throbbing pain you are experiencing is most likely a common side effect. Bruising and swelling are common minor side effects that tend to fade within 2-4 weeks and the only noticeable results will be enviably youthful cheeks. I suggest that you discuss your recovery process with your board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Throbbing in one cheek after Voluma - is this normal? Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your recovery issues. Without an in-person examination or full series of photographs it is difficult to offer definite advice but your injector may have inadvertently hit the covering of your cheekbone, called the periosteum, which can lead to prolonged tenderness. Additionally greater than expected bleeding/bruising may have occurred following the injections leading to the swollen look. Best to see your injector for an in-person evaluation and discussion.

Answer: Throbbing pain after Voluma Hello, you can have discomfort and even soreness immediately after an injection. But throbbing pain is not one of the symptoms you should have. Numbness yes; throbbing pain, no. Please return to your injector ASAP for evaluation. You need to be examined.

Answer: Pain after Voluma Thank you for your question audrey99. I understand your concern. Voluma is a filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. Redness and swelling are common after a Voluma treatment. I tell my patients that if they have severe pain at rest to call the office immediately so I can examine the skin and make any necessary interventions. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
