Help! Juvederm Voluma in cheeks looks like ant hills. Is this normal? (Photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I am sorry that your current results have not been what you anticipated.  What comes across most in your photograph is that your injector placed the filler into different areas between your right and left cheek, with one side much higher along the cheekbone than the other.  I would recommend voicing your concerns with your injector, consider gentle massage, and allow your results to mature over 2-4 weeks.  This will "soften" much of your "sharp" look.  At that time determine if additional filler placement can be performed to even both sides further or if dissolving the filler is needed.  Hope this helps.

Hi @pumpkinspicex! I recommend waiting two week for the filler to settle in. If you are still unhappy with the results after two weeks, you can dissolve the filler with Hylenex. Best of luck to you, Dr. Nima!

Thank you for your question. Considering you received the treatment yesterday, it is important to note that the minor common side effects do include tenderness, mild swelling and bruising. Please remain patient as minor side effects tend to fade within 2-4 weeks. Always consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

I would advise  you to start a gentle massage  to smooth the bumpy areas for 2-3 weeks.The most efficient massage is on the steamed skin, it would be easier to mold the filler to achieve the  desired look. In the future , you would probably need more fillers or dissolving the filler to restore symmetry and proportions. 

I would tend to agree with the other comments in that you were probably injected by a depot technique but that a little too much product was injected in one area giving you the appearance of a lump.  Many top injectors have gone to placing smaller depots and other techniques to try and smooth this out and avoid the drastic result that you currently have. I would follow up with your injector and express your concerns.  This can generally be smoothed very easily or dissolved if necessary.I hope that helps!

filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. It is normal to have lumps after a treatment. I recommend that my patients gently massage the area for 5 minutes at a time, 5 times per day, for the first 5 days to smoothen out the product. Final results are seen at 2 weeks. Patience is important. Please
consult with a doctor for specific recommendations.  Good luck!

Don't panic. It is going to take some time for the swelling to subside (this would be the lumps and bumps) and for your final results to reveal themselves. Wait a couple of months and if you still don't like your results then return to your surgeon to discuss.

Post injection bruising and swelling are common side effects of any injectable. While every patients heals at her own rate, most see visible improvement in 2-4 weeks. If you don't, schedule an appointment to see your surgeon to discuss. 

Thank you so much for your question and photos.  Don't worry yet.  The product will continue to settle down over the next couple of weeks, and, I bet you will get the results you are seeking.  While your injector may have placed too much Voluma in a small area along the cheekbone, the filler will start to integrate with your own tissues and adhere to the bone giving you some lift.  If, after a couple of weeks, you are still seeing unevenness, return to your injector and have him/her place a tiny amount of hyaluronidase to disperse some of the Voluma so you have a smoother appearance.  The great thing about these hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are very tweakable.  You will get the look you are after even if you have to pop in to your injector's office and have a little adjustment.  Wishing you so much bliss on your journey!

Unfortunately I don't think this is going to settle down on its own. I agree that too much was placed in one location giving you an unnatural contour of your cheek.  I don't think massage will help and I would return to you injector and have hyalronidase injected at the highest points.  More product should be placed in the medial portion of the cheek but you'll have to figure out if your comfortable enough at this point to have further injections by this particular injector.
