Saline implants do, however, have a slightly higher incidence of rippling when compared to silicone. Ultimately, patients you can achieve natural looking results with either type of implant. The more important factors regarding natural appearance include implant size (not selecting too large of an implant) and placement.

Thank you for your question.The short answer is that yes saline implants can look natural but it is important to make clear that how natural any implant looks will largely depend on implant size, preoperative anatomy, and amount of soft tissue coverage.  Generally speaking, silicone gel implants tend of offer patients a more natural look and feel when compared to saline implants and silicone implants also tend to be significantly more popular than saline alternatives.  With that said, each patient has to select the implant that they are most comfortable with.  If your ultimate goal is to achieve a natural breast augmentation be careful to choose a conservative implant size that works best with your preoperative anatomy.  The more soft tissue coverage you have of your implant the more natural your breasts will appear and feel.

BiancaI appreciate your concern, but you must consider all the facts. Photos and physical exam are optimal because I try to tailor each breast augmentation operation to my patient's desires and body type. There are pros and cons regarding saline and silicone implants, and patient anatomy and preference play a role in selection. The same is true regarding implant projection. Saline implants are not "safer" than the latest generation gummy bear silicone implants because they are semi-solid, not liquid silicone.  Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and go to your consult with all your questions written down so you don't forget to ask something. I totally understand why you would prefer saline over silicone implants. It is a matter of peice of mind and safety. Saline implants can look good when there is adequate tissue coverage but in general silicone implants feel softer as long as there is no capsular contraction. I have started using the Ideal Implants and I feel that they produce silicone like feel and shape. These are saline implants with a sofisticated internal structure that gives the implant a shape and feel that is even better than silicone implants. 

Breast augmentation, saline vs silicone implants is a personal decision.   In general patients that have good breast skin quality and enough tissue, either saline or silicone could be used for natural results. The size of implants may influence "natural" results more than the type of breast implant.  Silicone implants feel softer and saline slightly firmer.  An advantage of saline breast implants is knowing when the implant deflates.

I have been using saline and silicone implants for 30 years. I know of my patients with implants for greater then 29 years that still look good. See a board certified ASAPS plastic surgeon in consultation. Also get a Vectra 3 dimensional image and try on the different implants in a tight sports bra. Good luck...

Absolutely. Whether your final result looks natural has more to do with the size and placement of the implants. Both saline and silicone can look both natural or fake depending on what the surgeon does with them. Best of luck! 

I think you can get a really nice result with either implant but the silicone implants feel more natural and will likely have less rippling down the road. That being said, it is definitely easier to identify  a ruptured/leaking saline implant. In the end, you will likely be happy with either implant.
