Thank you for your question. In general, there is no age limit to Voluma. Many women over 60 have been quite happy with the results when Voluma or other fillers are used to smooth out the nasolabial folds and other areas. However, individual outcome depends on the patient's anatomy and skin quality. That is why an in-person consultation – or at least a photo – is so important. We need to be able to evaluate skin laxity and volume depletion in other areas of the face. Depending on your needs, for instance, building up your cheekbones and temples with a combination of Sculptra and Voluma could provide enough of a lift to smooth out your nasolabial folds and would also create an overall rejuvenating effect. After evaluating your facial movement, your physician may choose new fillers such as Restylane Refyne or Defyne, which may be better for expression lines because of their flexibility. In fact, Voluma is the only filler FDA approved for the cheeks, rather than the parenthesis, so a combination of lifting with Voluma and filling the lines with Restylane Refyne may be optimal. My oldest patient is in her mid-90s and she feels she looks healthier and more vibrant with lifted cheeks and softened lines after Voluma. Looking good gives her energy and improves her self-esteem. This is why most patients choose to do fillers – for a refreshed, natural look. Using fillers at any age – but particularly in older people who probably have at least some degree of skin laxity and volume loss – is an art. It requires a good eye, an understanding of facial anatomy, and skillful injection technique. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in sculpting the face with Voluma.
