I buy my own Restylane fillers. How much does a doctor charge for injecting it?

I have a source to buy high quality fillers (Restylane and Radiesse) at great prices. How much does a surgeon/dermatologist charge a patient just for injecting them? Can I expect something about $100 per visit? This would mean a great way to save money for me. Thanks.

Stella,The physician you go to should have expertise that will make sure that the material is placed in the right place.  The material itself is not typically marked up particularly, it's the expertise and skill.  I don't think any wise physician would use your material where they don't know what it is or where it came from.There are places where it makes sense to save money. This is not one of them.

I don't believe that any certified physician would agree to inject filler brought in by the patient.  There would be no way to guarantee that the filler is genuine and sterile.  You should only be injected by a certified, well trained and experienced doctor who buys their genuine fillers directly from the company and not on a secondary market or from overseas.

It is not legal to buy fillers without a medical license. If you do and a doctor uses those, he/she is liable for using those products. The rules vary form state to state but make sure you discuss this with your doctor. RegardsDr. J

Thanks for your question and the answers here will all be the same.  Patients cannot buy these products in the United States – they are only sold from companies and their distributors to doctors – this is to assure that you are getting the real product as there are so many fake products floating around.  No derm or plastic that we know of will inject you with products that you bring in – it is for your safety.

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely that anyone would be willing to inject a product you bring in from outside and if someone were, I would advise you to proceed with caution. This has nothing to do with money, simply the fact that they have no way of knowing if this product is legitimate or not and even if they feel confident that it is, most people would not be willing to take on that liability.

I would never inject a patient who has obtained her own product.  First, it happens to be illegal for a non-physician to purchase fillers and you cannot assume that what you have purchased is actually Restylane.  To the extent that you think that $100 per visit is a reasonable fee, I must comment that plumbers and electricians charge $250 and more for a diagnostic visit.  What you perceive as a way of saving money by purchasing what are the equivalent of "black market" goods is a way to cause grave harm.

I do not know any reputable doctor that would allow this practice. We are only allowed to buy product directly from the manufacturer and can not inject product brought in by a patient.

Thank you for your question.  The US Food and Drug Administration strictly regulates the sale of Restylane, Radiesse, and other fillers - it is actually illegal to purchase these products without a medical license.  There are a number of international retailers who claim to be selling authentic injectables via the internet.  However, I would strongly advise you against purchasing from any of these retailers, as in many cases these products have been found to be counterfeit and/or contaminated.  Moreover, I sincerely doubt any dermatologist or plastic surgeon would treat you with product you purchased yourself.  Best of luck.

Restylane is a medical device regulated by FDA for sale to physicians.  It is illegal for you to buy it and additionally you dont know what you are really getting for a reputable source would not be selling it to you. No doctor i know of would treat you with that product

I would be surprised to find any reputable surgeon or physician who would perform this for you. Unfortunately there are many avenues to obtain products such as you describe.
