Hello, I got my lips injected with one syringe of restylane 10 days ago. I had some swelling immediatley and they bled during the process however I had no bruises. I am now on day 10 and they stil feel tender. a little bit swollen and stiff. Is this normal? I feel like I look weird when I talk.

Answer: Lips Tender 10 Days After Lip Injections Just injecting the lips causes a small injury that can make them tender for several weeks. But there are ways of minimizing that. In my practice, I do not use needles. I use the TSK Steriglide cannulas. There is one entry point at the corner of the mouth that is anesthetized. The cannula is tapered but blunt, not sharp. It glides nicely in tissues, whether in the lip or face and greatly decreases the risk of bruising. The overall effect is less tissue trauma, which usually results in minimal post-treatment discomfort.

Answer: Swelling and Tenderness after lip augmentation (volbella, juvederm, restylane)--reverse with hyaluronidase if unhappy Yes, it is normal to still have some swelling and tenderness, which can last 1-2 weeks after your injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer
