I had lip fillers injected for the first time this Tuesday. I am happy with the shape so far. I know bruising and swelling is to be expected, but I am wondering for how much longer? When should I have normal lips again without all the puffiness and purple? I have been icing at night. Also, how long do these results typically last? I know it differs but just an estimate. My doctor said anywhere between 4-9 months.
Answer: The bruise may last 10 days or so. The filler will last 9 to 12 months. Four months is absurd. Restylane is much more persistent than that. Enjoy your service.

You can do things to speed up the healing process. You can take Arnica, which is a natural topical or pill formulation that is supposed to help with swelling and bruising. Also avoid any fish oil tablets and asprine. Bruising should get better over the next few days and be gone by about 7-10 days

Lip injections tend to dissolve a little faster than other sites, so you can expect your results to last about 4-6 months, but each patient responds differently so again this is just an estimate. If you continue to have questions or concerns, I would recommend that you continue icing your lips, wait a week or two for the bruising and swelling to subside and then schedule an in-person consultation with your provider to go over the results from your treatment.

It is common to have some swelling and bruising after lip injections and should resolve in 1-2 weeks. You can apply ice to the treated to help resolve swelling. Filler in the lips can last 6-9 months. If after 2 weeks you are unhappy with your results you can have the filler dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. Best of Luck!
