I have an uneven lipo 5 months post op. How can this be fixed? (photos)

Final results from liposuction take 9-12 months.  Discuss your conerns with ypur surgeon.  1 year after ypur procedure, if you are irregular and wavy there are ways to treat. Discuss options with a board zcertified Plastic Surgeon.

It is very common to have swelling for weeks to months after liposuction procedures. What is most important is that you follow your surgeons post operative instructions. If you are concerned, lymphatic massage and Velashape or Venus Legacy treatments can be used to improve the swelling and help the skin tighten. My patients start treatments right away and it improves the long term results. Speak to your physician if you are concerned.  However, based on your photos you likely need a revision procedure and/or tummy tuck to help with laxity. Contour irregularities can occur following liposuction and this can be due to a few different factors.  Correction of these contour irregularities can be difficult and would likely involve a combination of liposuction and fat grafting.  I would speak with the plastic surgeon who performed your liposuction and see what he or she can do to help correct the problem.  Alternatively, I would suggest visiting with another plastic surgeon for a second opinion.  Good luck!For more information on liposuction, please visit the link below.

I would wait 3 months  more doing nothing and woud do lipo again with my techniquesI have had several cases that way and we have solved the problem very nice without doingabdminoplasty with big scars and long recovery period.Dr Jorge Galvan MD

Indentations following liposuction are not uncommon.   At 5 months post op,  you appear to have some indentions.  This will require a revision.   Recommend talking with your plastic surgeon about your concerns.   

By 5 months most of the post operative swelling will have settled. It does appear that you do have indentations. You should check with your surgeon and see if this is amenable to correction by revision surgery.

The development of contour irregularities after liposuction is a recognized risk of the procedure, and minor contour concerns often improve over time with compression, the resolution of edema, and massage.  After 5 months, your images demonstrate indentations, and you likely will require a revision.  I would encourage consultation with your surgeon to discuss treatment to improve your result, but you should know that significant improvements can often be realized.  Options include a judicious combination of additional liposuction to address focal areas of bulging with fat grafting to improve depressions.  Alternatively, with your depressions limited to the lower abdomen, it may be worth considering a short incision, elevation of the soft tissue to the belly button, lysis of scars and adhesions in the flap creating contour deformities, and redraping and advancement of the tissue.  Your surgeon will be able to make a more precise recommendation after an examination, and they can discuss with you assets and liabilities of each approach. Sorry to hear of your problem. As I evaluate your photos it does appear you have some contour irregularities from your liposuction but it also appears that you have quite a bit of loose skin even though you don't appreciate it. When you sit down I bet you can pick up some fold of your abdominal skin. You could have a significant improvement with revision liposuction with a talented Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with extensive experience. From what appears to me to be redundant loose skin, I believe you would do best with repeat liposuction of you hips and abdomen in conjunction with a abdominal paniculectomy (tummy tuck). This can be done simultaneously and with out the need for drains if the procedure is done correctly. I published this technique in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal in September 2011. Find a Plastic Surgeon with knowledge of this technique and consult with them about what would be best for you.
