Very Bad Rhinoplasty : What went wrong? How do I fix this?

Question

I had a SeptoRhinoplasty 5 years ago at age 17 and I am heart broken over the result. My nose seems to have several significant issues. In some lighting it looks like a sausage and it others it looks skinny and over resected with sharp edges and serous asymmetries. I will not get fillers. Can I get back the good qualities of my old nose? Like symmetry, smooth contours, no pinching or alar retraction, etc? Help

There are a number of common findings that we address in revision rhinoplasty. You have lost support for your nostrils as well as a crooked underlying nasal support. This can be corrected by the use of cartilage grafts. The exact placement and choice of grafts is individualized according to each patient's needs. I suggest you see an expert in revision rhinoplasty for an evaluation.

This is an appearance that is unfortunately seen after excision of lateral portion of the lower lateral cartilages.  It can be corrected with the help of cartilaginous graft obtained from the ear.  It is not a complicated procedure and can be done under local anesthesia in the office.RegardsDr. J

Revising your nose is possible, but will require grafts from other areas of your body to replace what was lost during your first procedure. While there are many options available to achieve these goals, your primary goal should be to seek out a board-certified specialist who has significant experience using advanced grafting techniques. Revision rhinoplasty is a very difficult endeavor, so it's important to have an in-person consultation and examination. Also important to try to obtain your old records for the new surgeon to review your operative report from the primary surgery. The asymmetries can be adjusted and the alar retraction can can be improved with cartilage grafting techniques
