8 months post-op- I'm not satisfied with my liposculpture results. What should I do? (Photos)

In September 2021 I had liposculpture in a couple of areas around the midriff (love handles, upper stomach and lower stomach). At first I thought maybe my swelling just lingered for a bit more than usual, so I made a checkup appointment with my surgeon, who told me that everything looked okay. It's been 8 months since the procedure, and I feel like I still have a lot of fat around my midriff, giving me a hourglass silhouette. I'm a man, so that's less than ideal. What do I do?

I appreciate your question, @ylmrthrs. You could have two more consultations with different surgeons in order to get a different perspective. By doing this, you can determine if the result you have now can be improved. I'm sorry you are unhappy with your surgical results.  At 8 months post op you are seeing final results with no more significant changes expected.  If you would like further contouring you can consider revision surgery.  Continuing a healthy diet and exercise routine will enhance your results.

There are two major variables that can limit male torso Liposuction results.

The first is skin laxide typically from having been overweight or having had weight fluctuations.  even modest weight fluctuations can create skin laxity. This one present will severely hamper the ability to contour the love handles on a male torso.  To assess how thick your fat layer is pull up quite aggressively on the skin with your hand over the flanks then take your other hand and gently push against your skin until you feel the underlying muscle while.

You’ll probably notice that the fat layer is actually quite thin and that the contour changes when you release the tension on your skin.

The second variable is excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat.

Most men carry a higher percentage of visceral fat than women do but it can occur in anyone.

Visceral fat can only be reduced with weight loss.

Your results actually look quite good and that last bit most likely is skin laxity that is contributing to contour.

Without an examination it’s hard to tell for sure.

To assess the impact of skin put the skin under tension and see if the contour improves.
