30, male - ab Liposculpture - surgical recommendations appreciated? (Photos)

Question

I am a 30 yo male looking to explore liposuction/liposculpture. I have always struggled to define my chest and abdomen, and was wondering if now might be a good time to explore surgical options. I am in good health and hover around 17% body fat. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

To get a more lean athletic appearance you can either have Liposuction or do one what bodybuilders do and that is push muscle development and reduce body fat further.

Liposuction of the male torso is done somewhat differently than on the female torso.

The goal is generally to reduce subcutaneous fat evenly and not bring in the waste which can be feminizing.  I typically view the torso as a single anatomic unit and either recommend treating the entire torso or don’t do liposuction.

A full torso on a man includes upper abdomen, lower abdomen, love handles conservative waist treatment, Back, under arm and chest.  on women it’s particularly important to include the back or else they can appear wedgelike or develop excessive back bra rolls.   On man on the other hand leaving fat on the back can sometimes be acceptable but treating the under our area and continue to contouring all the way up into the armpit along the edge of the litismus dorsi muscle is key for getting a lean figure.

I do not recommend any other forms of non-surgical fat removal. None of them are good in comparison to Liposuction

Delivering consistent high-quality Liposuction results is far more difficult than most people believe.

The results are permanent and irreversible.

If you’re going to opt for liposuction then by far the biggest and most important decision is finding the most talented and experience provider in your community.

Do that by having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of male torso liposuction before and after pictures.  ask specifically what areas are included and what areas are not included and why.  partially treating the torso or spot treating only the problem area is leads to an unnatural fat distribution that looks unnatural and looks like someone has had partial liposuction which they have.

An experience provider shouldn’t have no difficulty showing you 30 or more sets up before and after pictures. Highly experienced providers will have several hundred or possibly thousands of before and after pictures of just male torso results.

Seeing a handful of representative results which in fact represent the best results of that provider‘s career is insufficient to get an understanding of what average results look like.

Push the provider to show you some of their best results, average results and less than results.

I also recommend people read all the reviews on all various physician review websites and avoid providers for any significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than an abundance of positive reviews.

Continue with scheduling consultations and do not make a deposit or commit to surgery until you followed through with all the consultations.

The variation in outcomes purely based on who does the procedure is striking when it comes to liposuction.

On your pictures your abdomen shows slight bulging which may indicate that you carry some excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat.

If that’s the case then weight loss will be needed to get a flat abdomen.

The best and most legitimate way of getting the look you want is to tighten up to diet and increase workouts. Find local bodybuilders and hang out with those guys and learn what they’re doing.

Liposuction will never look as good as those who do it on their own but Liposuction can give impressive results if done correctly by someone who knows what they’re doing.

In the hands of those who lack experience or inherent skill people can be left irreparably and permanently disfigured.

Must plastic surgeons are competent at Liposuction but the difference between a confident outcome and the best work being done by the most talented providers is quite striking.

Good luck with your decision making.

When in doubt slow down the train and schedule more consultations.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of picking the most experienced and talented provider for this procedure.

To do that well requires in person consultations which can be a substantial time commitment but you’ll be living with the results for the rest of your life so put in the effort and find the right provider and everything falls into place.
