I am in my mid 40s, one pregnancy 10 years ago and 60lb weight loss achieved naturally for a couple of years. I was trying to lean out further to optimize the aesthetic results of a mommy makeover (revision of BL/BA and an extended tummy tuck) but I’m beginning to feel that it’s mainly excess skin keeping me from my goal appearance. I’d also like to avoid needing lipo. Based on this photo should I keep trying to lose weight or move ahead with surgery at this point?

Answer: Ready for Surgery! Congratulations on your incredible 60-pound weight loss—it’s a remarkable achievement! From your photo, it looks like you’re ready for a surgical mommy makeover. Specifically, a tummy tuck would be the only way to effectively address the excess skin and potential muscle separation, as these issues won’t improve with further weight loss or exercise. For your breasts, any needed revisions would also require a surgical approach, although it’s somewhat unclear from the photo what specific corrections might be best. With the hard work you’ve already done, you’re in a great position to achieve your aesthetic goals through surgery.

Answer: Mommy Makeover + Extended Tummy Tuck + Breast Revision Thank you for your question. Your natural weight loss has already optimized your fat levels, leaving excess skin as the primary concern. Further weight loss is unlikely to improve skin quality or elasticity and might leave you frustrated if your goals remain unmet. Moving forward with a mommy makeover—including an extended tummy tuck and breast revision—would provide the contouring and rejuvenation you need. A consultation with a skilled surgeon will help determine the best approach for your goals while avoiding unnecessary procedures like liposuction if that’s not your priority.
