I'm looking into lip injections and I'm curious about Perlane. I only just heard about it and cant find much for comparison online, I did read that it lasts longer than some other injections. Can you tell me which is better, and what the differences are? and any other differences?
Answer: Lip Fillers Thank you for your question. Perlane, now known as Restylane Lyft, is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that has been around for many years and has a great safety profile yielding excellent results. Juvederm is a competing product which is a very similar HA that is also widely used with terrific results. The difference between the two is complicated to explain and has to due with the concentration of HA in each product which varies and how the molecules are bound together known as cross linking. These properties give each product a unique profile. That said as a patient both will give excellent results and usually the treating MD has a preference that he or she can explain to you as to which they prefer and whyBest of LuckDrG

Answer: Perlane vs Juvederm Thanks for your question. Perlane and Juvederm are both hyaluronic acid based fillers. Each is extremely good at providing a moderate amount of tissue augmentation. In my practice, I use them interchangeably and almost only for folds around the mouth and for cheek volume augmentation. I personally don't use them in the lips because I feel they can easily provide too much volume for lips. I prefer to use regular Restylane in lips which is thinner than these two products. Where I practice, people REALLY don't want to have an overfilled look to their lips, so I'd rather use something thinner rather than overdo it. That being said, plenty of physicians use Juvederm for lip augmentation and they have a great record of success and safety. Good luck.

Answer: Lip injections As my colleagues have noted, both Perlane (now Restylane Lift) and Juvederm are hyaluronic acid products that are FDA approved and have a great track record of safety and efficacy. Because of differences in density cross linking, and particle size, each of the fillers has different properties. Juvederm is probably the most popular filler for the lips, as it is quite soft, which is important when you speak, eat, drink, even kiss. Make certain that you find a practitioner experienced with lip injections and with an artful eye. Discuss your goals and bring pictures of your desired look, if you can. Best of luck!

Answer: Perlane or Juvederm for the lips Perlane is now called Restylane Lyft. It's basically Restylane with larger particle size, causing it to last longer and have more lifting power. I would not recommend it for the lips, especially compared to Juvederm which is softer and has just as good longevity, maybe more. I hope this helps!
