I had 1 syringe of Restylane Lyft and no results (Photo)

Hello Xander.Restylane Lyft is an excellent injectable, but I prefer Restylane L or Silk in the tear trough. Generally speaking the results of dermal filler in this area are immediate, but you also have to inject the right amount of volume to achieve a full correction. I suggest that you might need more Restylane. You appear to be experiencing some degree of swelling, which is entirely normal after a filler treatment. Depending on the specifics of the treatment plan agreed upon by you and your injector, you should notice improvement and/or full correction with regards to your volume loss.  As this is an area that typically swells more than other areas of the face, it could be that your injector was taking a more conservative approach with his product of choice, however this should have been clearly communicated to you in your appointment. You might need additional correction to achieve optimal results. Your best bet would be to contact your injector and schedule/keep all follow up appointments. 

Thank you for your question.  I would recommend that you return to your injector to discuss your results in more detail.  Before pictures would help better assess what changes were made with one syringe.  I often find that more than one syringe is needed to help develop the look that is one is looking for.  In addition, on your right side. Also, technique varies immensely with filler injections and it is hard to know what was done.  Typically I use Restylane under the eyes and Restylane Lyft in the cheeks, mid face, and nasolabial folds.

It is difficult to judge based on the angle of your pictures, but it appears one syringe is not enough volume to achieve a satisfactory correction. I commonly inject one syringe of Restylane per eye. I typically see a 75% correction at the time of injection and by two weeks following the procedure, 100% correction is obtained. This occurs because Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is hydrophilic. The HA attracts water molecules, thus resulting in an even greater filling effect. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please

Hi Xander, swelling can take up to two weeks to resolve after filler. I would follow up with your injector to discuss your concerns. I like to use a cannula to inject the tear trough region because I feel like I can get a more even layering of the produce and a better result. You may also want to consider a lower eyelid blepharoplasty in order reduce the bulging appearance of the lower eyelids.

Typically you will see hyaluronic acid filler (#Restylane, #Lyft, #Silk, #Voluma, #Volift, #Vobella, #Juvederm, #Belotero) results immediately. For the hydrophilic products such as Restylane and Restylane Lyft, you will notice swelling that increases up to 4 hours following your injections.  The edema lasts one to two weeks.  Your photo indicates swelling over your right cheek bone (the "bag").  Please revisit your dermatologist or plastic surgeon injector for further evaluation. Best of luck,Suneel Chilukuri , M.D.Houston, TX

Hello Xander222,Filler injection should look good the day of injection.  It then will swell a little bit for a few days depending on how much was injected and where.  After 2 weeks, the swelling from injection is gone and the filler pulls in water from the surrounding area to give a little bit nice of a result.  This is why we say at 2 weeks you will have the result you want.  If you did not like the injection the day of treatment then you probably won't be happy after 2 weeks.  I would wait two weeks before considering anything, but there is an injection that can get rid of the product and you can start over.  The skin in the tear trough area is thin.  Restylane Lyft is a thicker product.  If you do go the latter route you may consider having Restylane injected in that area (it is my preference for the tear trough).  I would recommend you follow up with your injector to continue to discuss your concerns and see what he or she recommends.  I hope this helps and good luck.
