Gaining weight after jaw liposuction?

Question

Hello, I carelessly gained 8kgs after jaw lipo when I was already overweight. I now need to lose atleast 20kgs. However I was really really happy with my jawline post lipo and since I gained the extra 8kgs thatjawline has changed dramatically. I am hoping to know if losing the weight plus more will get my jawline back to it was immediately post lipo or will I need to get jaw lipo again?

Significant weight gain or loss can impact the way the jawline appears.  If you intend to lose 20kg there is a good chance you will notice a difference in your jawline.  I encourage you to complete your weight loss journey first and then decide if you want to proceed with further liposuction to the jaw area.

Weight fluctuations can definitely impact the appearance of the jawline, as excess fat can return in that area, but the results will depend on your unique skin elasticity and how your body responds to weight loss.

If you lose the 20 kg, there’s a chance your jawline could improve significantly, especially if you return to a similar body weight as when you first had the procedure. However, if the skin has lost elasticity due to the weight gain and loss, or if the fat has redistributed unevenly, the jawline may not fully return to the post-lipo look on its own.

In some cases, a second round of jaw lipo or other treatments like skin tightening procedures might be needed. It’s best to consult with your plastic surgeon after you’ve lost the weight to assess your options and determine if additional treatments are necessary.

It is very likely that your jawline will go back to how you appreciated it following your jaw liposuction when you get back to your weight at the time of lipo.

Hello, It is Dr.Hong from Fresh PS Clinic, S.Korea Seoul. Unfortunately, it does not work like this. In most cases like yours (gained 8kgs after jaw lipo when I was already overweight), re-op becomes a solution. So, in order get best result, I would recommend to lose weight as much as possible first and undergo liposuction again.

As you discovered, liposuction does not prevent weight gain. Go ahead and lose the weight. If you wind up with any lose skin, consider radiofrequency treatments.
