Thank you for your question and photos. It may take 4-6 months for all of the residual swelling to resolve after a Tummy Tuck. Post-operatively compression garments and massage are used to help speed recovery and decrease edema. With isolated areas of indentation that do not resolve with time fat grafting may be used to improve those areas. Given that you are only 7 weeks out from surgery I would continue with massage as recommended by your surgeon.Best of luck.
Thank you for your question and photographs. If you still have noticeable swelling, I would recommend you continue to wear a compression garment of some kind for your comfort. It is too soon to determine the cause of the dent on your abdomen, as once your swelling resolves the dent may improve. If it doesn't , either additional liposuction to help smooth the area may be required, or fat grafting to help restore any tissue that was suctioned from this area.
Compression garments are the most common treatment after surgery to help alleviate swelling (edema). Regarding the dent, you will simply have to allow more time to pass so the swelling is gone. The dent may improve with time. Best of luck with your continued recovery!
Edema after a tummy tuck takes about four months to resolve completely and you won't know if the upper area is dented or just not edema maiden like your lower abdomen. If is still there after full recover and healing from your tummy tuck it can easily be fat grafted!
Hi, Sun1965.The final outcome of tummy tuck may take up to 3-6 months to appreciate. You can experience fluctuating swelling up to 6 months.Without knowing the specifics of your surgery and examining your body in-person, I cannot comment why you have dent. Your contour including the dent may be improved with aggressive massaging and/or liposuction. Please continue following up with your plastic surgeon closely. If you are unhappy after 6 months, you should discuss with your plastic surgeon on options to further improve your contour.Best regards.
The dent could be due to swelling or uneven liposuction. Try vigorous massage and give it several more months. If it does not improve then some revision liposuction and fat grafting may help the indentation. Good luck!
Although swelling is the likeliest cause here, other possibilities exist including fluid collections such as seroma (serum) or hematoma (blood), and an exam by your surgeon can help exclude those and other possible causes. The photos are not ideal, though I can see an indentation. If it persists, fat grafting can be done to correct it. As to the edema, continued use of compression garments would be my recommendation. It is possible that the swelling is gone by now, and what you are seeing is the contour of your abdomen. All the best.
It sounds like you have used compression and also massage. There really is not much else other than time to see how severe this may or may not be. Certainly by 12-16 weeks from surgery you will know. It is possible there was a little fat taken from there so if it persists, some cautious fat grafting perhaps under local anesthesia, may eliminate your concerns.
Probably within the normal limits of recovery after this procedure, particularly in the absence of pain, redness, fever, worsening symptoms. However, to be sure, you should touch base with your surgeon and, if indicated, arrange to be seen in person.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan...
Hello dear, Thank you for your post. In a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty surgery, the tissue above the abdominal muscles is lifted off of the muscles from the lower scar to the ribs in a full tummy tuck. The superficial nerves that travel through the muscle to the skin are cut in order to do this....
if you would like to cover up a scar with tattoo pigment I would recommend that you wait about a year for the final result of the scar. If you want to make the scar look better rather than try to cover enough many new techniques have recently been described using fractional lasers and a drug d...

Hello dear, thanks for your question and pictures, I suggest you to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to check your BMI first, because surgery will depend on that... I've performed surgery on patients with no more than 200 pounds, but you have to be checked
It is not uncommon to have some minor issues with belly button healing after your surgery. Often the epidermal layer sheds and the raw dermal layer (Like you see with a blister shedding its top layer) weeps underneath. I don't like peroxide beyond the first 24-48 hours as it prevents...
